Wanting to get off on the right foot with my new-to-me 2003 Windsor, I wonder which lube to use where on the slide-outs. On the 2001 Diplomat it was pretty clear what should get lubed and what lube to use.

While the Windsor has motor-driven gear racks to extend/retract the slides like the Diplomat's, it looks like there are some additional surfaces that rub against one another.

What do you like to use and where do you use it on these various points of contact and wear?

Here are some of the lubes I have on hand:

Underside of the living room slide-out gear rack:

Underside of the living room slide-out bearing surface:

Underside of the one and only bedroom slide-out gear rack:

BTW - how do you get to the motor/gear drive mechanism on this one?

To access the motor/gears for the bedroom slide you need to remove the access panel under the bed. The slide must be extended to see the motor. Manual operation if the slide is closed, requires a 5/8" socket and a extension of about 20" to reach the manual ratchet point.

I use a dry lubricant on the slide mechanisms. Anything greasy will attract dust like a magnet and make things worse. Also the jacks get quite dusty while down for longer periods of time. I wipe them down and lube the tubes with silicone before bringing them in.
Two other things that may make things slide easier. First is wipe down the slide seals and the rails where they rest with real soapy water. My slide rises before it comes in so if the seals are sticky that adds to the initial drag.
Also I use a wax called Nu Finish on the undersides of the slides. It is real slippery and wont stain the carpets.
I am sure others will have some great ideas on product as there are so many out there.

Dry lube for slides for all the above reasons. Using Nu Finish on the underneath sounds like a great idea.
