A friend of mine next door in Houston has/had a snake in his engine compartment. I saw it and it is not very big but as far as I am concerned ALL snakes are deadly. Any ideas how to make sure it leaves...........dead or alive. Someone suggested some moth balls which we did. It is on a Winnebago Vectra and I don't think there is anyway it could get inside the coach but still makes for some sleepless nights.

Good one Bob. HA HA. I dont think my DW would ever go in my Discovery again. One of those less info the better deals. Yeah any snake is dangerous to me, not gonna try and figure out if it is ok or not.

perhaps you could call the animal control in the area and they could remove the creature, before it slither into a small tight area you can't find or see.

It'll probably leave on its own if left alone and when it gets hungry or needs some water.

This is the right answer. Leave it alone and it will be gone in just a little while.

Consider that it is feeding on those pesky little packrats that are chewing your wiring!

Had one in the engine compartment of my toad. When I tried to catch it it squirmed into an area of the fender well that I could not reach without getting bitten. I told the DW that it left and off we went. Everyone was happy except for the snake who probably hit the pavement at about 65mph.

You might want to be a little cautious with critters in engine compartments. I had a mouse get into the timing belt housing and get under the belt. When I went to start the engine the belt sliped a notch and would not start. I could see if the snake got itself in the belt area, besides making a big mess, you could flip a belt off.
