I have a Holiday Rambler Neptune XL and I have tried to use the surround sound system with my TV, and have follow the instructions per the operator manual and can not get any sound from my surround sound system. Any suggestions?

I have a different system, but I believe yours requires flipping a switch near the radio that changes from radio speakers to the TV speakers.

A little more info please. On your TV, what audio output do you have? On your surround sound, what audio input are you using?

I have a Holiday Rambler Endeaver 40PBT and the dvd player on mine handles the surround sound. All of the speaker wires connect to the back of the dvd player as it is the control for the surround sound, no surround sound on regular tv. Mine is an 02 not sure if yours is the same but I would need to replace the dvd and add a real surround sound system if I wanted to have it in all speakers on regular tv. Hope this helps.

I had same problem, took to deaer $400 later told it would not play over Boise system. Months later in my little dinky home town (on a trip) took it in to a small car stero shop. He ran one wire and it works great !! $128 DEALERS don't know much about sound systems but have no problem looking at $120 an hour!!! Take it to a car radio shop. my two cents

We're all shootin' in the dark here --- we need feedback such as the info Pairajays requested above.

But I have to suggestions to offer in the interim:
1) Confirm visually that your RV's TV has a stereo "audio out" feature...to which RCA plugs (usually one red, one white) are connected. This forms the TV-output and thus the surround-sound amplifier's input.
2) Some surround-sound amplifiers don't have very many audio input jacks, so Monaco/HR used a audio/video switch velcro'd (for example) to the top of the amp.

Example: my surround-sound amp needs to be set to "Audio 1" input, and the multi-button switch (atop the amp) must be in position 3. Note: when I say "multi-button switch", I'm not referring to the multi-switch unit that lets you choose inputs and outputs such as Antenna, Cable-TV, DVD, Satellite, VCR, etc.

Not knowing what you have but I can tell you what I did to mine. Run the analog audio out of your TV to the Aux Input on the Magnedyne(?) Radio. Then with the TV on, the radio on Aux you will get audio out of the ceiling speakers, not surround but as good as it gets without an amp. You can mute the TV audio and adjust volume with the radio volume.

Buford,
Just to hi-jack this thread for a moment, your system (radio speakers in the ceiling) would sound better with some additional low-frequency (bass) sounds. To achieve this on my rig, I added a "powered sub woofer" by attaching the radio's line-output to a sub woofer that I purchased for $10 at the Goodwill. The sub woofer amp/speaker is actually that device used with home/desktop PC systems (usually: left & right speakers sitting on your desk with the sub woofer sitting on the floor). Don't need the L/R speakers (they cost extra at the Goodwill anyway.) These "systems" need 120VAC for power to create the 18VDC used internally. Via some testing however, I found that the sub woofer works quite well on 12VDC....and as you know, we have LOTS of that available on an RV. So if you enjoy tinkering, try this out. If it fails, you're only out 10 bucks!

You'll need to confirm that your TV has AUDIO OUT (stereo) jacks.....and that your Sony radio has an AUX-input function. Also, tell us if you have an onboard surround-sound amp.

No amp did not come with one. That doesn't mean at one time it had one.

srzak,

I found a CNET review on the 'net dated May, 2003.....so it's possible your radio/CD was original. But FYI, I found 2 different '03 Vacationers for sale (pictures of same) and the faceplate of the radios therein were different from yours.

Sony CDX CA700X - radio / CD player - Car CD changers - CNET Archive

And for what it's worth: the CNET review didn't highlight any AUX input capability for this radio.
