Spare house keys
Today I went to Home Depot to attempt to have a spare set of keys made for my HR Vacationer. They were able to make a spare ignition key but could not find blanks for either of the locks on the entry door. Is this something I'm going to have to contact the dealer for or is Home Depot just lame?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Try Ace Hardware. Many of them stock the blanks for RV keys. Probably best to call ahead to verify.

I stopped at HD to have a spare door and ignition key made for my new (old) 1993 S10 pickup. With their new laser scanning key system, they could make the door key but not the ignition key. With their new laser system, they now charge about $5 a key!
I stopped at Lowe's, they also have a laser scan system but it was having a hard time reading my old key. They still have the old key copy system operational and they were able to make a spare key. And theirs's are $2.38 each for scanned or old system cut keys.
But a real key shop would always be the best

Does your coach have Trimark locks and keys?
Is the door key a small brass key with black plastic covering the top?
If it's a Trimark key system, you can call Trimark with the number on the key and purchase original keys very reasonable. Original keys will fit much better than copies.
Link to Trimark's web site. Look through it to see if your locks and keys look the same.

Also, it helps us if you post the year and model of your motor home.
Best of luck!

I bought replacement keys from TriMark.
Our coach came with one set of keys. Later, I found a hidden set.
As far as numbers of sets go, we have three. One we use. A second goes in the wife's purse. The third stays at home (short trips) or with a nearby relative (long trips), where it can be retrieved and overnighted to our location.
Since the door lock jammed two years ago we leave a window unlocked. So, we don't hide a set of keys on the coach somewhere.
We use a three-part keychain. One part holds the ignition key. The second holds the door keys. The third part holds everything else. When we lock the coach door we take just the second part with us.

The demand for class A entry door keys (class C cab door keys are a different matter) will never be high enough for the box stores or neighborhood hardware store to ever carry blanks. We are a very small niche market for such. A good full service locksmith may have blanks but if not they should be able to order them quickly. Same for the local RV service center, in stock or in a few days. You could always bypass everyone and order direct from the lock OEM but ensure you have the correct part numbers.

X2 Go to a local locksmith. I went to a local locksmith to get keys for my Bay Star and I was amazed at their inventory of key blanks. And, their price for keys was very competitive. In the future, I'll go to them for any keys I need....can't see any reason to go elsewhere and waste time to find out they don't have the right blank.

I will only go to a real locksmith. They have the correct blanks and the keys always work.

Bingo! Thanks for this suggestion! Yes, they are Trimark keys and I contacted them. They will be mailing the keys to me. $10 service fee plus $3 per key was a bit more than I would have paid at a big box store but probably not too much more.

Trimark came through! Probably about the same cost as a locksmith $10 for the order plus $3 per key. Thanks!
