I'm not sure about your application, but on my coach to raise the idle I use the cruise control. It goes from about 750rpm to about 1200rpm in three step increments. 750rpm to 800rpm is the normal low idle on mine. Hope this helps.

Diesels that never run at high revs get coked up, it's why the Skoda Fabia you just bought of a little old lady that only drove it 2 miles to the shops every weekend runs like a dog until you take it on a 50 miles blast down the motorway @ 90mph.

We even have a term for it the "Italian Service" run it to the red line in every gear up and down, "izza fixxed".

Hi Jake and Sarah, I have 2002 monoco caymon 34foot with ISB275 , 2000s allison . I worked for chrysler for 25 years and I know cummins engines are made to work not lug around. the manufacture builds their units matched with engine, trani, diff, to do a specific job in each application. Its not very likely that you can hurt it ,not saying that you cannot but cummins puts a100,000 mile warranty on their motors and they would not do this if they thought you could hurt it under normal conditions.thanks for your time Keeney the new guy.

ISB that i had did idle around 725-750, the cruise buttons will raise rpms for warm up if needed.
I believe 725-750 is the idle spec to maintain decent oil pressure, no its not too low its a diesel!
You can check your governed rpms by setting the parking brake, and while in neutral floorboard the pedal and see what the max roms are, and no you cant hurt it!

That's exactly what they do for the emissions test every year over here.

Of course the engine manufacturers have got wise to this and have now programmed the ECU "If your in neutral with the parking brake on and someone stamps on the accelerator pedal then slowly rise the revs to the red line" otherwise most of them would fail. ;-)
