Speedco...

Hello,

I purchased lube service at the Speedco in San Antonio last November and plan the same for this year.

Looking at the price PDF for RVs, I do not see the difference between "Medium Duty RV Service" and "Light Duty RV Service", except the price.

What am I missing?

Price page https://www.speedco.com/en-us/the-sp...ce/rv-services, PDF download at the bottom.

Light Duty only replaces 2 filters, Heavy Duty replaces 3. That's the only difference I see.

Thanks for the response.

What is the difference between "Medium Duty RV Service" and "Light Duty RV Service"?

I think the Cummins ISB is light duty, Cummins ISC and ISL are medium duty, ISX is heavy duty. Filter and oil capacity differs.

CAT and other engines divide along similar lines.

Hi Mark! I have our yearly maintenance service done at Speedco also. It's the most economical way to go if you can't do it yourself, which most of us can't. Only problem is, they employ a lot of basic-skill mechanics with maybe one shop foreman that really knows what he's doing! I found this out the hard way!

I also have them service the Onan generator. A couple of years ago they put oil in the coolant reservoir! Fortunately I discovered it before any damage was done, but this shook me up!

The good thing is that they want you to stand there and watch them as they do the service. Problem is, you can see what's going on in the pit and keep your eye on all of them at the same time!

BTW, they classify my Cummins ISC350 as medium duty.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

A call to Speedco corporate would be best to obtain their definition or to find where your coach lands. I would not nessisarily trust a location to have the definitive answer.

MSHappy, If you got the basic mechanics, I must have gotten the remedial class
I went to the Speedco in Dallas and they were like "Duh, where's the filters ?"

I'm like "Bye!" no matter what the price I will not use them if they don't know where my filters are !!!

They quoted me $309 for my ISX and then added that Cummins filters would cost more.
Good thing though is that after 2 3/4 years my oil still tests good.
Going by the Speedco charts my useage for the ISX is light.

My last trip to speedco wasnt great. They overfilled my differential resulting in a messy drive home and the prices have substantially gone up.

Their prices are up a LOT since my last visit, but that's still waaaay less than a truck shop would charge!

Interesting PDF, I've been charged both ways, heavy and medium with my C9. Confusing, as I want 3 filters changed, Oil, fuel, and H2O separator which is heavy rated.

I am charged, correctly per the chart, for a medium service. Plus a separate charge for the third filter. This is how, as I understand, a medium with three filters should be invoiced. It's a bit cheaper this way as, iirc, the additional filter is about $35.

I had mine done about 2 months ago and they charged me about $350 for heavy duty and extra charge for "a special" filter. ISX 600 The next oil change I going to have installed a Fumoto valve and then I'll be doing my own service.
