The lens covering the speedometer is clouding up. How is the lens removed? I assume the bezel has to come off but am reluctant to pry it off. I laid a sheet of latex over it and tried to unscrew it by hand but was not able to budge the thing.
Ideas?

Not sure that they are removable, if they are like the Stewart Warner type gauges the bezels are crimped on over the body of the gauge. Might have to remove the gauge from the back side of the dash and replace the speedo unit.

Hey Dave, just answered your question over on the Monacoers site. The bezel is not removable. Take all the screws out of the dash. Carefully pull the dash top toward the steering wheel. Reach over the top and remove the speedometer from the rear. It then comes out from the front as a complete unit. It was made by:
Beede Electrical Instrument Co.
88 Village Street
Penacook, NH 03303
800-451-8255
Beede Electrical Instrument Co., Inc. - Instruments of Quality Since 1917
It should have a number that starts with a large CE 944231
Why do you need to remove the glass?

Thanks Rex & JWT. Rex, the reason for removal is to clean the glass. It's starting to cloud up. It may just be the cold and could take care of itself once we get underway next month. However, I was hoping that there was some way to proactively clean it.
Thanks again guys.

If you think it could be condensation try a hair dryer on it. Be careful to avoid melting the face if it is plastic.

The glass can come off but it's a very tedious procedure best to be done by professionals. I would suggest to try to find a local speedometer repair shop, believe it or not their around. If you take the speedometer to them they should be help you out.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions. Beede responded promptly to an e-mail as follows:
----------------------------------------------
There isn't really anything you can do to clean the inside of the window on your speedometer.
The only option would be to send it back to us and we could take care of it for you.
If you want to do this, please send it to:
Beede Instruments
ATTN: Ken
88 Village St
Penacook, NH 03229
We would only ask that you pay for shipping both ways.
----------------------------------------------------
I think that is more than fair, since from their point of view the speedometer has been in service over nine years.
Dave
