1999 Windsor. Speedometer readings varying with constant speed. VMSpc max speed reading showing that at times I was going 107 MPH. With cruise control on feeling chop of throttle every 10 sec or so..

Checked all coonections then replaced speed sensor on allison 3060 output shaft. No help.

Opened dash and added additional ground wire to back of speedometer and ground bar.. Speed reading and cruise are now stable and acurate..

Problem solved...

Yep, had the same problem with my 2000. A heafty ground wire also solved dimming dash lights. My speedo was waving at me until I added the ground wire.

When I went in to clean the main light switch (head light, dimmer, etc) I found almost every one of the mounting screws stripped out. They are now basically "push-pins" that hold the entire dash cluster in place. Didn't get around to the ground wire correction yet but my instruments are behaving exactly like you described except for the cruise, which works perfectly (knock wood).

I added clips to the dash securing holes and on areas where they won't fit I used tooth pics to get grip with the screws. Funky but it worked. It me know if the ground fixes your dash gauge issues... James
