Speedometer too high

Where does the speedometer get its data from. My speedometer varies from just a tad high to 25% high. I'm checking my mileage now to see if the odometer is also high. My tire size is correct in the Cummins software. I disconnected and cleaned the Allison speed sensor and made no difference. I can tap on the speedometer and it will change its behavior so I think it's in the gauge? I might try identifying the ground wire on the gauge and adding a new good ground

I have an issue with mine too. Speedo seems right but I have an "error 1" message where my odometer should be showing. Guess I go ground hunting too.

My speedo and odometer have been wonky from day one. I go off the GPS for speed and the Silverleaf for mileage. I've learned to just live with it.

Err1? I had that!
Push both buttons. Turn key on and off four times. Then you push one of the buttons and get a d and a b I pushed the d and got into some pulse mode where it counts many numbers per mile. Pushed a button and poof! I now have over 800000 miles. Should have kept the err1

Crap, not sure I followed exactly what you did. Hope I don't do it too. 😛🤐😌

I'm not sure I know exactly what I did! I'm going through repeat it and take notes. I can get back to the choice of a d and a b. I usually press d, goes to all zeros, seems to count pulses. Then I've pushed a button and gotten 83,000 miles which was just too low and now I've gotten over 800,000 miles in it. My ecm still has the miles.

My odometer went to Err1 when master tech did a horrible lifeline battery install. Shorted the odometer (apparently) and crushed the transmission ecm ground wire. I found the crushed connector when it stuck in 2nd and then wouldn't display the keypad a few days later.

So what is the source of the speedometer speed? Mine has been usually 10% high at least , but recently its gone to 85 when I'm going less than 65. It seems to be the gauge because sometimes I can tap on it and it changes back to a bit high. I've had Cummins change the tire size in Insite but didn't make a difference.

I'm told that Err 1 is not recoverable, and you will have to replace the speedometer. I'd expect that 'master tech' to foot that bill!

Interesting,. I contacted Monaco Technical support today. What I was told didn't inspire.

When I asked about my issues regarding the Aladdin system, he said "Monaco Technical support was moved back East basically all of the historical knowledge for the pre 2012 Monaco product was left in Oregon. He also said they have no data to support anything Aladdin related.

Ok, not surprising let's move on. I asked about the Error 1 message in the LCD screen on my speedometer. His response, "Oh, that's an Aladdin issue." Seems the odometer reading comes from the ECU by way of the Aladdin main brain.

Ok, not surprising. Next question, What could they recommend as a replacement for the Back up camera monitor. His response, "That's another Aladdin issue." He went on to say he has worked for 18+ year on Winnebagos and other REV products. So I asked what kind of monitor those other coaches use. He offered a couple of automotive Brand's but couldn't recommend anything because of the Aladdin issues.

Finally I requested the paint formula for my coach and success. He was able to pull that information from his computer.

I had no illusions going into that call and only really thing I hoped for was to he paint formula. So I'm not disappointed.

All this is to say just how important it is for us to support each other as we experience unknown problems. There is a wealth of knowledge here and we have to continue to share.

I wonder if you ask to schedule service with REV in Oregon, they would connect you with someone there? Then you could ask them directly.

I don't know if this will help but when my speedometer went haywire I notice a nob on the back of the speedometer and I move it back and forth and the speedometer has been working great for the last couple of years. I thing the nob is for different configurations and it had a bad connection and moving it back and forth fixed the connection. I have

Thanks I'll check what I can see. Although the Speedometer works fine, it's the odometer that isn't reading anything but the Error1 message.

I asked if there was anyone I could call in Oregon. I was told anyone there would want me to bring the coach in and charge their $145 per hour shop rate for the consult.

Tightened connections. Ran separate temporary ground. Will see if it fixes it July 10 on our way to Indy.

I just got a new speedometer from NWRV Supply. Mine quit working called 3 places in Junction City and back east, nothing. Then I gave NWRV a call and sent them some pictures and got a new one, now my coach has 00000 miles on it and mine is no longer made. Did I get lucky or what. They have a lot of other stuff also.
