Good morning,
Per my routine to try and keep the motorhome taken care of I like to start and drive the motorhome at least once a month to get everything lubed up if we haven't been on a trip lately.
This morning it is 9 degrees out with a high predicted to be right at the freezing mark. Kind of makes me nervous if the green monster will even turn over. I'm sure that others have started there motorhome on cold days but I'm wondering what your experience's are when doing so? I plan on going out and plugging in the block heater in a few minutes and then try cranking her up around noon. What do you think?

Just let the block heater go for a couple hours and she should start up ok. If you need to start it up and did not use the block heater, I usually cycle the key on and off a couple times to run the intake grid heaters a little longer then fire her up. If I know Im going to be going out and it's cold, I plug it in the night before.

loranimal,
Thanks for the reply. Kind of chilly here in S.Indiana. I kind of figured thats what I would do but I've learned that there is a lot of knowledge on this site and if someone told me it was to hard on stuff then I would wait for a thaw. Might be waiting awhile on that thought.
Thanks again,
Letsgoagain

The ISC engine is a great cold weather start unit. The one I had would start without hardly rolling over in near zero degree temperatures. I would always give it a couple of hour of block heater if possible.

Another suggestion is to keep looking for a place that no-one knows what a "Block Heater" is or is for.

I also give the engine batteries a little extra help when it's cold out by using the alt start switch on the dash. This adds the power of the house batteries to the engine batteries. I just hold in the switch, turn the ignition key on to the first notch until the wait to start light goes out and then turn the key to the start position. It's never failed to start.

Hey Ronboc,
I thought about trying a location where the block heater isn't needed but it would require moving my place of employement. Since I don't think they'll agree to move I'm stuck. Well for another 5 years anyway. I can still dream about it though.Heh Heh
