So many things to check into before going full time.
How do you folks keep your state resident current, and how do you get your mail at a reasonable delivery schedule?
Coach is all Pa. inspected and just waiting for wife to retire and start getting rid of goodies, and figuring out what to load.
Everything was so easy when we were talking about making the transition but now its the real thing and it ain't easy.

I spent a year switching all my bills over to where they were either automatically paid from my checking account or I could pay them on line. Some don't lend themselves to either method so I make a list of when they're do and send them a check when needed. Things like property taxes, magazine subscriptions etc.

For mail delivery I have a neighbor who collects my mail with hers. She throws out the sale ads, and the other misc scrap mail and then puts the stuff I might want, magazines, etc into the post office "if it fits it ships" box. When I'm stopped at a place I'll be for a few days, or if I know where I'm going to be on a specific day, I arrange for the RV Park people or the local UPS store to accept the box and hold it for me. I call the neighbor give her the address she ships, I get, no worries. My easiest place for getting mail are the Elks Clubs. You can call in advance to confirm they will accept the mail for you, confirm the address they use, and have it waiting when you arrive.

I'm not quite positive what you are looking for when you ask about keeping your "state resident current". I think you might be talking about residency? We vote by mail so we pay attention to when the elections are, and make sure we get a mail drop in time to send our ballots back. We also keep track of when our drivers licenses, CC permits, etc are due to expire and take care of renewals of them when we are back at home base. Sometimes that means we have to renew early, but that's the nature of the beast. I'm not going to stay home in November just because my birthday is in that month and that's when my license expires.

So, by having property, licenses and voting there is no question of our residency.

If I misunderstood and you're talking about care of your residence (stick and brick house) then my answer is that I have a different neighbor that walks thru the house, runs the sinks, flushes the toilets, checks on the heat, etc. weekly. Living in town makes it convenient for the neighbors to do these things and they of course receive gifts each year when we return.

If I missed the question entirely, sorry about that.

If you go full time and don't keep your stick and brick home you can change your residence state to many different states. The three most popular are Florida, South Dakota and Texas. Non of these have state income taxes, they all allow you to be a resident and use a mail forwarding service as your mailing address. Most mail forwarding service charge you a monthly fee and then the cost of postage for forwarding the mail. You can request your mail when you want or set up a schedule. The mail can be sent to a different address each time you request it. Each state has differences in how you become a resident, get a drivers license and register your vehicles. Vehicle registration cost varies by state. I would recommend you post your questions in the full timers forum or at least read through that forum. Good luck it is a interesting life style to be a fulltime RVer

Howdy neighbor! I retired from ORNL (X10) and still consult in Oak Ridge. Worked at K25 for 8 years before moving over to X10. Did some time at Y12 also.
