Stearing Problem

Steering Problems
I have read all of the material concerning the transfer from Sheperd to TRW.
I have a couple of questions.......a ball park figure of what it costs and is there anyone close to my home that does this work. I live in Northwest Arkansas and would appreciation any added any info you might have.
I need it for sure, just need to know where and how.
Thank Red Dixon

Any truck dealer/shop can make the changeover. It is relatively simple to do. HOWEVER, they must follow Crazy Knight's instructions explicitly. Don't let their shop substitute their "know-how". Get an agreement on this with the service manager beforehand. Crazy Knight (Craig French) can give you an estimate of the cost and other helpful info.

About $ 700 for a rebuilt TRW steering gear and NEW pitman arm and NEW pinch bolt. You get a core refund for your Sheppatd once the swap is complete. A GOOD shop should take about 4-5 hours. As stated you must follow installation instructions for a TRW SWAP and most shops replace the same gears NOT different ones. Labor is up to the shop but $400 to $600 seems to be ABOUT the going rate.

IF you have all of your Sheppard steering gear information email bhofstra@wellertruck.com to get the parts headed your way. DO NOT call a Weller outlet or let the shop order parts. WAY to many issues from owners doing so.

See you over at the TRW SWAP thread !

SWAP ON (if you want too)

Craig
