Step Cover Repeat Problem

I am sure I can get some help on this one too. I searched and saw a thread from Nodine on the subject but it would not open for some reason. Anyhow, here is the problem. When we bought our 2006 Endeavor at Lazydays 3 weeks ago, the electric step cover would not work and they replaced the motor. We have closed it two or three times since then just fine. Yesterday we leave to take the coach back to Lazydays to have a jack replaced, and the step cover moves about 4 inches , sputters, and stops. Wont move again. At Lazydays they say "motor is bad, gotta order another one" to which I say, the motor failure is the symptom, not the problem. They agree but need the motor fixed to troubleshoot. Before I go thru this again, what is the experience out there for what the most likely problem is and I will try and help them out before I go back again for the ordered motor. thanks again. BTW, I cant even figure out how to access the mechanism to look it over. thanks in advance

thanks Monaco Mama I read the posts and looked at the pics. I will try and disassemble tomorrow and see what I can see. Surely it is not very complicated since you dont see very many trouble posts on here. Hopefully I can figure it out since I know now, thanks to this forum, how to get into it
