Hi

The step on my HR works as it should but with one exception. After turning off the ignition key and I open the door and want to have the step stay out by turning off the step with the switch. It will still retract when the door is shut. I found that if I turn off and then back on the master chassis switch the step will turn off and on as it should. I know there is a safety relay to close the stairs when the ignition key is turned, and it does, but I think it maybe sticking. Only dropping out when all power is shut off. I have no idea where to start looking for the relay. Anyone know where the relay is located? Thanks.

Don

With the old style Kwikee step controller you opened the door - the step extended and then you turned off the switch and the step remained extended.

With the new style Kwikee step controller the door will always follow the door position when the switch is "off" - when the switch is "on" the step will extend once when the door is opened and remain extended. The ignition switch will energize an override in the controller and close the step when the door switch is "on" and the door is closed.

Here is the Kiwkee pdf which explains door operation.

Hope this helps.
