These switches are grounding switches. The light bulb has a constant 12VDC applied to it, but a ground connection must be applied to make the bulb glow.

This thread prompted me to look at the light in my wet bay. It did not work when we purchased the coach. I just assumed the bulbs were burned out and bought replacements. The lights in the rest of the basement compartments all go on and off depending on the position of the switches in the wet bay and the charger/inverter panel. These are wired in the classic "two way" configuration. i.e. either switch will turn on and off the lights.
When I went to replace the two bulbs in the wet bay fixture I checked for voltage with the lights turned on. Turns out that the two wires feeding the fixture both had 12 volts with respect to ground and zero volts with respect to each other. Naturally the lamps would not light. Examination of the perimeter of the bay opening revealed no switch that might be actuated by the bay door.
I'll look at the coach 12V wiring diagram but in the mean time feel free to opine.
Thanks,
