We are replacing the flooring in our 99 Monaco LaPalma 36 and discovered some of the OSB subfloor is showing water damage. I want to cut out the bad sections and put in new wood. I cut out a little piece and found about 1-1/2 inches of blue foam insulation. I assume that underneath that is the aluminum framework. I would like to know if it is spaced 24" on center or is it a honeycomb pattern of aluminum tubing?? Then I will have a better idea of how to attack the replacement OSB. Anybody know the answer to this? Is there any kind of schematic available that might show the way it's made so I can show it to my carpenter? He's very good on homes but hasn't done any RV carpentry.

Thanks!

If you have a rotozip or similar, you could cut the osb 'til you hit them.. they will most likely NOT be under the foam.

The only thing that supports your sub floor is the metal framing. The foam is in between the frame sections. It is difficult to remove the damaged floor and put new flooring in unless you are very lucky and the damaged area is between frame sections that can be accessed. The framing is not very wide and putting a new section on half the width may not product the desired results.

Before you remove the damaged area, go here and do some reading:

Wood preservation, rot repair, and restoration using epoxy resin on boats and homes.

You may find a product that you can use to make the floor solid again without removing it.
