Sun Blocker Purchase/Options

Hi Everyone

We are planning to purchase a Sun Blocker for our awning and we completed research with two companies....Care Free of Colorado (manufacturer of the awning on our coach) and Sun Pro.

Care Free of Colorado only offers one choice - 85% UV Protection, black mess - 19ft wide with a 9ft drop (2 sections - 3ft with zipper and 6ft add on) Wt = 14 lbs. One year warranty.

Sun Pro offers two -

1. 85% UV protection, choice of 7 colors, 19 ft with a 9 ft drop. (22 1/2 inches with zipper and the second panel will = 9 ft.. Wt = 14 lbs. Five year warranty.

2. 90% UV protection, 10 colors, 19 ft wide with 9 ft drop (same measurements as #1) The quality of the material is better but weighs 28 pounds. 10 year warranty.

I do like the smaller cut (22 1/2 inches vs 36 inches) that attaches to the awning roller) Just seems to me that it is safer to roll up 22 1/2 inches than 36 inches with the power awning.

Any recommendations (pro or con) on the two manufacturers?

Should I be concerned about the weight of the sun blocker (14 lbs vs 28 lbs) once installed on the awning roller? Operating the power awning should not be a concern since only the shorter section will be rolled with the awning.

Has anyone selected the 90% over the 85% UV Protection?

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from everyone!

If you ever get to the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) check at Don Wes flea market.
There are a couple vendors that will custom make sun drapes, shades tire cover, etc.
There is also pre made stuff for sale.
