SunSaverDuo charge controller
On our 2009 Camelot 40' I knoticed the solar
Morningstar Remote Meter was not active. After reviewing the owner's manual, checking all the bays and calling Monaco RV tech service, I cannot locate the SunSaverDuo charge controller. The 15 amp fuse in this curcuit tested ok.
Anyone have this experience or know where they put this thing?
Thanks.

It should be some place close to the batteries but not in the same compartment with the batteries, if it was done correctly. If ll else fails you can use an electrical tracer to follow the wires.

Some were under the fridge. If you have a panel there you can remove, do so and look inside for the controller.

The controller is between the batteries and solar panel. Should be closer to the batteries. Alot of times they put them above frig. If you have a meter you can check at the back of the meter and see if you can read any voltage and if you do the meter is bad.

Our 2009 40' QDP Camelot has the kitchen on the driver’s side slide, with the refrigerator on the passenger slide. Is there anyone out there with this floor plan who has located the solar controller? Despite the posts in response, the solar controller still remains un-found. I have searched all bays several times. I tried to trace the wiring from the battery cut-off switches to the batteries and on, but all the wiring leaves each item and quickly disappears behind panels. I pulled both refrigerator vents, but nothing. We do not have a panel below the reefer.

Have you called the manufacturer to ask?
The reason I mentioned a tracer is that it follows wire electronically sending a signal that is picked up with a receiver through dry wall/wall board etc. It send out a tone that is picked up and allows you to follow the wire.

George, I don't know if this will help but on our '09 Camelot 42 KFQ the solar panel controller is in the overhead of the service bay. On our rig there is a removable panel between the second storage bay and the side of the service bay. If I remove this panel on our rig, the controller is just inside on the overhead. Below is a picture of where ours is located (sorry not very clear), the controller is at the end of that purple wire you see hanging down. This is a shot into the top of the panel I mentioned above.

On our 2007 Diplomat the solar controller is located within the battery bay. There is a large black plastic box here with a lid that is secured by plastic wing-nuts.
The controller should be really close to the battery bank.

Thanks. Yes, I called Manaco twice and exchanged emails as well. One customer service rep was of little help, but a second is a bit more. The latest I heard is they are going to ask teh service technicians and if there happens to be a similar coach in the Monaco shop, the customer service rep will go look for himself.
I am not familiar with a tracer. Is this a two part instrument with a sender and receiver? The problem with tracing this out is that the Morning Star indicator panel is connected to the solar controller by a phone type cable/wire. I pulled the panel and found the wire disappears behind the panel toward the driver side, but that is not guarantee it doesn't go elsewhere and I cannot find where it goes.

I have one of the Morningstar sunsaver MPPT controllers, it is a long story but I had to re do all of the wiring between tongue and converter and much of the other wiring i.e. solar. One of the nice features is that that the controller has a computer (with adapter) interface and you can monitor usage and set charging profile. For that you have to access the phone type plug and dip switches on the controller.
Some of the tracers have a telephone type plug as well as a couple of leads and yes there is a transmitter and receiver. You should be able to find the controller as it is necessary to be able to change the dip switches to accommodate AGM batteries and it needs some ventilation.

Thanks for your explaination. I am a novice a this stuff. Your explaination sounds very technical. I took out the Morningstar monitor panel and found the phone wire.
Monaco said the controller should be on ceiling in the service bay, but there is nothing on that ceiling except for the bay light.

Yes, indeed. After I crawled in the bay I found the panel and removed it finding the same thing as posted in #8. Thanks to Lew F and DC Cruiser.
