Surge / Voltage protection

After reading alot of post and doing some research of my own I've decided on the Progressive EMS-HW50C. My question is more about installation than product. I have an electric spool for my power cord, I'm guessing the EMS-HW50C needs to be installed between the feed from the spool to and before the ITS-50R transfer switch???

My cord spool is manual, but that is where I placed mine. Some folks have placed their progressive unit downstream from their transfer switch to monitor either shore or generator power. I didn’t, figuring I’m most concerned about park power. I mounted mine on the wall directly below the transfer switch.

Don't have cord real but installed mine before the transfer switch. I have read of others installing after to monitor both shore and generator power but to be honest I can't remember a post of a generator supplying bad power.

Either way, the compartment the transfer switch is installed is in tight quarters. I had to be a contortionist to install the surge protector.

x2

I'd debated long and hard about how to locate mine, but someone mentioned the genset has a lot of power protection built-in already - that sealed the deal for me.

I installed my HW50C before the automatic changeover switch.
