Suspension Height Limit Straps

Does anyone have the specs for suspension / shock limiting straps?

Monaco has no information other than the fact that they were installed.

I can just remove one and have a local shop duplicate it but was curious and lazy.

I'd think if you have at least one still intact per axle, you can take it and it duplicated. I've not seen a measurement for them, they just 'are.'

I did not know Monaco ever used any kind of limiting strap...but they surely SHOULD have from Day One. I just welded tabs on my coach frame and H-frames and used chain. Now, I can use the hydraulic jacks to even take a wheel off and on...something I seem to be doing waaaay too often.

I have always thought that the absence of those restraints was responsible for most of the damaged upper shock mounts on 8-10 bag Monaco's.

Of course you use jacks stands too. Learned a very dangerous lesson a couple of months ago.

The transmission control computer can cause emergency retraction of the jacks. If something goes kerfunk those jacks come up incredibly fast when the air is out of the bags and nothing supporting the thing.

I now you know this Van, this is just a warning for everyone.

Yup, Myron, I have (6) 12-ton stands, (2) 6-ton stands and a bunch of lumber. I ain't into getting squished.

I looked for limiters on our coach tonight. I raised it up and still couldn't find them. Even looked underneath to the opposite side. I did see the chains connected to the tag axle.

Oh boy this is a new one for me, slide under neath, couldn’t find any limiting straps or hold downs. Another QZ search when I arrive. When we install x-braces down there, Van maybe you can show us were they would have been located.

Here is my limiting strap for the roadside. I don't know why the photo is so dark as it isn't dark in my library. There are cables limiting the tag axle.

hypoxia, is this looking in from just in front of the dual rear wheels?
Did you have to raise the suspension up to view the limiters?

Here's a better photo. The bolts are 1/2", the strap is 1.5" wide and the didtance bolt center to center is 10" which allows the air bags to inflate to 11.0" ride height. Normal ride height is 9.0"

I'll just take one to a tent/tarp shop and have them make replacements.

You can have these straps custom made by visiting an off road supply store.

Not all but the serious ones can or can have them made for you.

They are made and used following the same concept rock crawlers use.
