Like mentioned in previous post I just bought a 2006 Monaco Knight and was wondering if its possible to just change the cameras and monitor to color LCD or do I have to rewire the whole thing? Is this a direct replacement camera for the side cameras that are color?

My former coach was a 2006 Monaco Knight and it had the Weldex B&W cameras. The contrast wasn't so great so I wanted to switch them out with color. I contacted Weldex and got a replacement color 7" flat screen monitor and a rear color camera for about $500.

I left the side cameras B&W. The wiring was completely compatible.

The entire swap out only took about an hour and a half. The most trouble I had was getting the new monitor to mount in the hold left by the B&W CRT. The bracket they supply for the thinner LCD screen is not so great.

My new coach has a different system using an Audiovox Voyager AOM-7694 monitor and an Audiovox VCTT-130 Camera. I like it somewhat better than the Weldex. Having done some adjustment on it, I think the camera may be the same one that Weldex was using, but I can't be sure, but the wiring harness looked identical.

I would suggest you look at a Voyager system by Audiovox. A reseller may be able to advise you on the issue of wiring harness compatibility. Voyager Rear Observation System by AudioVox

Give this place a call, http://www.rearviewsafety.com they will set you up right & the prices are good, all the stuff comes out of china, but in electronics what doesn't. This place buys from this place http://www.sharpvision.cn/ who I've been buying from for years and their mark-up isn't much, so I've started buying from them since there in New York and seem to keep good stock. Most coaches that already have a back-up system we can re-use the cable from cockpit to rear cap, just need to verify the connectors.

I own a 2006 HR Ambassador that had the Weldex camera system in it, Had problems with the B&W CRT monitor. Sent it to Weldex for repair and they sent me a new color LCD flat screen. Used the same camera's and wiring and the color system worked. I asked the tech. about the camera's not being color and he responded that they were all color, just the monitors were differant. I continued to have issues with the Weldex and finally had HR put a Voyager system in. Then the rear camera would not pan up enough to see past the toad. I fabricated a wooden wedge to tilt the camera up more so as to be able to see the horizon. Love it now!

When we got our used 06 Ambassador, I noticed that the images on the side view cameras were backward - I called Weldex and was told Monaco had put color side view cameras on some of the 06 coaches and that would cause the image to be backward. I looked on ebay and found a used color rear view camera and a new 7" LCD Weldex monitor. I also bought a special mounting bracket from Weldex to mount the flat-screen monitor where the CRT used to be. Then it was a simple swap-out of the rear camera and the monitor. Weldex was right - my side view cameras were color from Monaco. After about a year, I would get an intermittant picture from my rear camera - I saw this was a rather common problem with the Weldex system, and one poster said he solved the problem by removing the connector in the end cap for the rear camera and soldering the leads directly. I did this and haven't had a problem since. Good Luck
