What Sealant to Use?

Looking at Geocel 2300 MHRV Clear to seal seams on side of coach. Has anyone used this before and were you happy with the results? I want clear and do not want to use silicone.

Is there a better product you would recommend, has to be available in clear though.

Thx

Make sure to mask it off. When you pull the tape it leaves a blunt edge, less prone to peeling.

Captjake u live in Suisun city?

I use the Proflex from Geocel and have been happy with it. You don't want to use any silicone based caulking as nothing will stick to it later and it just isn't up to the job.

Pro flex, used by all reputable manufacturers. Easy to work, extremely long lasting in an RV environment. DO NOT use any silicone product. I do use black RTV in some instances ie, around Eternabond seams for black color or gasket repair around door seals.

Testing for Water Leaks

Could not figure out where leak was comming from. Used that spray (on TV and now at box stores). Thought was from rear skylite. Sprayed clear around skylite. Gave up. While in Pensicola went to Carpenters RV. For $199(??) they did the presureized seal test. No leak found. After discussion with svc mgr, he went up and had his guy add some caulk where the rear cap was joined. He found two small spots where the eternabond was not sealed to the fiberglass roof. Recommended reseal of entire roof as normal maintenance (?). No leaks since. Bought two tubes of caulk that are recommended by Fleetwood for repairs on thier rigs.

I'd never use that spray sealant (if someone gave me a can) on anything but a screen door on the bottom of a rowboat.
Dicor self-leveling caulk does great for the skylight, vents, etc. through the roof. Eternabond works for seams. You do have to make sure the surface is clean, I scrub and then wipe down with acetone before applying. A small bead of Dicor along the tape edge is also suggested. It's recommended to do at least bi-annual inspections, a leak can cause expensive damage in a short time. That's why many RV's have a ladder permanently attached to the rear. It's not just to hang bikes or lawn chairs.
