We absolutely love our coach. We think it's the best thing ever built! It handles like a dream, it has lots of power, it rides great! It's beautiful inside and out, especially after all our renovations. Having said that, nothing lasts forever. So with that in mind.........

In a few years, I'm thinking that a newer Dynasty (2001-2003) would be nice. A few slides, a tag axle. Hmmmm. Nice to dream.

I'd like input from anyone that's made the move from an older Dynasty without tag to a newer Dynasty with tag. I'd like to know what's better, and what's not.

I suppose the tag means that it handles better. I know the newer Dynasty coaches are a lot heavier. Does that mean that the coach handles heavy? Does it mean that it's short on power?

You know, I often wondered why everyone went to tag axles. Is it because they are over 40', ie, 42', 45', etc? Why would a 40' CC Magna with a single axle, weigh less than a newer 40' Magna if they both have the same engine?

This will be our coach until we no longer camp due to age or health problems.

Most mfrs. have gone to tag axles for anything over 40 ft. Simple reason was overwieght problems. Even many 40 footers are almost overweight from the factory. You have to look at the actual axle capacity not the GVW. Those 40 footers may have some front axle capacity but will be very close to the 20,000 max on the rear. The newer Dynasty's are very heavy!! I would never buy a unit without that tag. Handles so much better. BUT there are disadvantages. You lose underneath storage space, 2 more tires to buy in the future, PIA of lifting tag in tight situations. IMHO unless a 42 ft. or more Dynasty has the 500 HP engine they are close to being underpowered. I have been passed in the mountains by Camelots and even gas models.

My Signature has a tag axle and I moved up to it from a 35' DP with no tag axle. The tag was a requirement I had. The biggest difference I noted right away was the stability. No more moving around when a truck passes or getting hit broadside by high winds. Sometimes I can feel the wind slamming me from the side but no movement. The other thing is another axle with brakes on it. My tag has drum brakes and my other axles have disk brakes and the tag has a separate ABS. It is scary on how fast the MH can brake from high speeds especially weighing in at around 48,000 lbs. Yes, I admit that every six years I have to buy two extra tires, so what. When I backing into or driving into a tight spot or doing a real tight tight U turn I will hit the button and lift the tag (if I remember) so it doesn't drag the tires sideways. Doesn't really matter on dirt or gravel. The other thing is the tag system does add some weight to the MH so that does have some effect on the mpg.

Never thought about losing underneath storage space. I don't know why. Guess I will have to check that against a MH without a tag. I can't have storage on the drivers side because of the side radiator but I have storage still on the curb side but those two compartments are full of batteries (10 batteries in mine). I guess the extended wheel well takes up some storage area. I

My wife and I "downsized" from a 40' MH to a new 36' Monaco Cayman. To make a right turn I had to go half way into the intersection to start turning......as the 40' wouldn't bend around the corner. This new coach with a SHORTER wheel base almost turns on a dime. Much easier to maneuver forward and in reverse into camping spots. With diesel going to $8.00 a gallon I believe smaller and lighter is in vogue. I just read about a MH with rechargeable lithium batteries. Just electric motors. Things are changing..fuel cells, and water for fuel. deSanford

It's a shame you won't have that great paint scheme you have on your coach now.

Thanks. We had a lot of fun doing the graphics when we repainted. I taped the design from my head onto the coach for the painter.
