Thermostat temp vs actual temp

I have a Duo Therm Confort Control thermostat with zone 1 and 2. It also has remote temp sensors in the front, under the overhead tv, and in the rear. I have to run the temp on zone 1 up to 79 to get the a/c to turn off and maintain a 70 deg. temp up front. The rear is a little better, about 5 deg. difference. Is this normal or can the thermostat be calibrated? I set a thermometer on the dash, under the remote sensor, to get the difference in temp.

I had the same problem with my 06 HR. Too close to the windshield and themp never drops far enough. I did end up using a small fan to direct air to the windshield area and a windshield cover. This helped a lot but still not like one would expect.

Other than that one could relocate the sensor I would guess

Yup, same front thermostat positioning for us. Stupid of Monaco's engineering department. I think your doing what you should be doing.

FWIW In the aircraft industry we had the same problem. They installed a small, micro, fan within the plastic housing containing the temperature sensor to get a better sampling of air. Trying to compensate would not work because it is not always off the same amount or even in the same direction. Acquiring a better sample is the best bet. Air likes to move up and down but the way my sensor is installed, under the forward TV cabinet, it needs to move sideways!

I posted the same question on RVNET and got the same answers. Seems this is common amoung HR. I can manage by turning the thermostat up to a confortable setting. Thanks for the replies.

Spent way too much time trying to resolve the problem and it finally beat me. I also use a fan described by Ed S which did help. Also shoved some insulation behind the thermocouple which also helped a little. But, at the end of the day, I find myself manually adjusting the thermostat to compensate for bad engineering.

A RV Tech that posts on RVNET suggested moving the front remote sensor to a spot next to the front air return. He says it is just a 2 wire plug.

On my current coach there is a thermostat for each of the three a/c's no remote sensors. Needless to say, I no long have that same problem.

It's common among many if not all manufacturers including my Dutch Star.

If you unplug the Zone 1 remote sensor at the curcuit board(white plug), it will use the temp sensor in the Comfort Control thermostat itself which may be in a better location? That's how our 98 DutchStar and 99 Executive are wired.

Hello out there.. My temp senors are on the wall near the bathroom close to the bedroom(that one is suppose to be for the Living room. It sits in from of a big picture window, so we keep the shade down all the time. The other sensor is in the BEDROOM. For AC I keep the Bedrm on 74 when we are in the L/R..

Keep the L/R on 72 when we are in the B/R... If we leave for an extended period of time (in the heat) we leave the L/R on 74.. and put the B/R on 78

One problem that appears to happen is when we turn on the A/C with AUTO FAN.. it takes forever to come on. When I set it on high we it comes on relatively quick... Once it get running I will switch it back to AUTO.. But we use to get short cycles(supposedly fixed).. Will check out again this spring and summer.
