After reading about all the problems with the ref. toilet I have not read any threads about my particular issue, has anyone had experience with this one. When I push the flush button the slide gate opens fine then closes but the worm gear continues to turn a few more rotations, grinding the gear & jamming the slide against the gasket It hasn't caused any problems yet, though I am afraid that if it continues the gear is going to break at the most inoportune time(if you know what I mean). Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dan, I have the 04 version of your coach and I had to do a toilet repair a couple years ago. I was seriously going to have a RV Center do it but decided to try myself after going on tetfords website and learning about the toilet. It was amazingly EAST to remove the toilet, place it on my workbench, access all operating parts, and order a new part from them. Don't know exactly what your problem may be but mine was the knife blade gasket leaked water. I had the tool to clean it but it had worn out. Try it. YOU CAN DO IT AND SAVE $$$$$

There is a knob on the back to open the slide manually. I've never played with any adjustments, but maybe the knob needs to be adjusted one way or the other.

Mine is loud, but it is really loud (angry sounding) when the water is not turned on. Every once and awhile I forget to turn the pump on while boondocking.

Don,
I will be taking mine to my dealer in about 2 weeks to get dewinterized and I am going to have them hear it again. Maybe I will be able to flush some other while I am there but they may not have any water in any on the lot.
I know a couple weeks may be to long for you to find out about mine but the best I can do at this time.
Yours is sounding like mine. I have only had the rig a year and I dont remember it being so loud when we first bought.
Ed

Dan, face the toilet and reach behind it with your right hand (hope you are right handed). There is a knob there that is used to manually open or close the blade.
Around the knob are several short screws (10 I think from memory). You can just barely get a stubby Phillips screwdriver on them. A flash light and mirror may be of help, otherwise you have to do it by feel. Tighten all the screws. When they work loose is when you have the problem you described. Easy fix.

Thanks for all your replies. I have removed the commode from the coach and dismantled the slide blade mechanism and reinstalled. The threaded nylon rod was in good shape and all screws tightened though, once reinstalled it makes the same grinding sound though intermittently.

I got tired of dealing with this toilet and modified it to take a normal low flow house toilet. Works great and can get about 34 flushes before having to empty the tank. I tried to give away the Aria and nobody wanted it so to the dumps it went.
