Thetford toilet running on it's own

I have a Thetford electric toilet that has now taken a mind of it's own. It will flush every few seconds on it's own. Where can I cut the electricity off to it? I have removed all the 12v fused and shut off every breaker but, it keeps opening the flapper and flushing. At the moment I have the water cut off so I am not filling up the black tank.

Help!

Thanks,

Jerry

Do you have your owner's manual? Perhaps there is something in there that can help. Is it possible that you have a leaking valve?

Jerry the fuse is behind the toilet and generally laying on the floor. It is in a yellow rubber tube. The auto flushing problem is water getting into the control unit. You must have a small leak in one of the tube connections on the back.

The REAL fix for this is a different toilet. An alternate fix it to replace the existing control unit with the updated one which only allows (6 or 8 - don't remember which) flushes before it shuts itself off. That is the control unit in the Aria II toilet. I have not found any way to look at the toilet and tell the difference between the Aria one and Aria two and think it is only the control unit. Not a cheap part.

Taking the toilet out and replacing it yourself is not a hard job, just nasty. There are two lag bolts that hold it to the floor. While you have it out you might as well replace all the gaskets on the mechanism. You can turn it upside down in the bathroom floor for this. Some water will come out that has been inside the upper chamber and or tubes when you turn it upside down so be prepared for this.

You can push both buttons at the same time and it will open the valve and shut the water off.

There was a problem with those toilets in some earlier models. Water could get in the electronics module causing exactly what you are seeing.
