A three legged milk stool is pretty stable - how about a three legged 2002 Monaco Windsor? Since my current gasser has no levelers, you wouldn't think I'd be so picky, but what can you do. Some folks complain if you hang them with a new rope.

You will find preferences on both sides of this issue. Had both 3 and 4 leg levelers. My Ambassador has 3 and I really like it better than the 4 I had on the Vacationer. I think it is easier to level without twisting the frame. Either way, both serve the purpose. I find my 3 leg to be very stable. If I was in the market for a new/used coach it would be a non-issue for me.

Had a hard time getting use to the Monaco Caymen with a 3 leg set up. My 90 Pace Arrow had 4 legs. But now find it easer and like not twisting the frame which is Monaco reason for only 3 legs. Could live with either as long as I am out in the Motorhome. Worst day out camping is still better than the best day at work. Only 8 1/2 months till retirement.

I originally had a lot of reservations with the 3 leg system...I have to say (now that the LCI pump has been replaced--that's another thread) that it helps in making the coach flexible when leveling which avoids cracked windshields...Non issue for me now--I just wish it was a bit easier to get a pad/wood blocks under that front center jack--I use the window awning rod for that.

Thanks for all the great responses, Campers. I had really never given frame twisting and popping windshields any thought until I started researching the Windsor. I'm liking this coach more and more. Thanks again, also about the tip of using the awning rod - my wife has already refused to crawl under.

FIrst a lot of 4 legged levelers are really 3 legged, I will explain

The problem I have with the tripod system is this.. That front-center jack is mounted on a cross member.. This cross member is not as strong as a frame rail and.. what's worse, the jack is at the absolute worst (Weakest) point, namely the center of the rail.

It just looks a bit.. Well.. Flimsy to me. And I have heard of them bending the cross member.

Now. if you take two jacks, bolt one to each frame rail, run the hoses to a "T" fitting, and the third leg of the "T" back to the pump.. You use the self same pump and controls.. It works JUST like a 3-jack system.. But you have the strength of a 4 jack system.. The jacks are attached to the frame rails, the strongest rails on the chassis, And the odds of them bending go way, way, down.

And that... Is exactly what is on my coach Power Gear hydraulics

NOTE Not all 4-jack systems work this way.. Some each jack has it's own control valve and hose back to the pump.. And in some cases if the controller is mis wired, bad things happen with those systems.
