I bought my new to me 2007 Holiday Rambler Neptune about this time last year. We took a few short trips 3-4 hours , and had few problems .

Strike One:
On our first long trip ,from Tallahassee to St. Louis in July the windshield broke as I came off a bridge transition. I live in Florida so Progressive replaced the glass at no charge to me.

Strike Two:

On our way back from Orlando in October the window gasket on the drivers side started to peal away from the coach and glass, a four foot section was flapping against the side ,leaving a 2 inch gap between the glass and coach. Half a roll of duct tape later we made it home.
The glass people said the gasket was bad and should have been replaced the first time.
The glass people ordered a new gasket and reset the glass in November. everything seemed good .....

Strike Three:

We were on our way to the Caverns State park 65 miles west of Tallahassee when my ears popped .The DW almost came unglued as she watched the gasket begin to peal away from the coach.

My question is.

given the problems I am having with the windshield and
I just found about the trailing arm issue ,no cracks as of yet.
and DW refuses to sit in the co pilot chair because she is scared.

Is it time to trade?

That is pretty scary, I would more than likely trade.

Hi Tallyrver,
Gut feel says there is a problem with the front cap. My assumption is the glass people are highly skilled and know what they are doing. If that turns out to be the root cause, it may be time to trade.

We have friends with the same year make and model as yours. They've never had a problem with the windshield. You may need to find someone who is more familiar with installing one piece windshields.

I checked their trailing arms and their coach has the arms that don't crack. They're more of a round tube arm. Monaco made about three different types of trailing arms, not all of them crack.

The only thing I didn't like on their coach was the ride. I adjusted their ride height, tire pressure and added Koni FSD shocks and it was much improved. It seemed to eliminate the issue with the clothing jumping off of the closet rod.

I've had two I traded because they both became money pits. It is sad that we sometime pass problems along. But if Tallyrver bought his used, sounds like they kicked the can to him already...Trade it...and move on..
Good Luck....D

Based on what Diplomat Don said, I would try and fine the root problem and have it fixed. You will loose a lot of value on a trade or direct sale.

Tallyrver,
I guess for me it would be if I had lost all confidence in the motorhome to get me to where I'm going reliably. If you don't feel good about it then your not going to be able to relax and enjoy yourselves.
With your particular issue with the windshield it sounds as if something else may be causing the problem.
I would ask myself if I can get this issue solved would I feel good about the motorhome. It sounds like you are almost at that point. I would give it another chance after you find another expert on windshield installation.
For what its worth, I did have to have the trailing arms replaced on our motorhome. Was it aggravating? Yes and more so at my expense but we like our motorhome otherwise.

I would call Monaco and see what they suggest about the windshield. I called them about my issue and they had there " windshield expert" call me back, he asked me a lot of questions about my windshield and determined my opening was to small. I made an apointment for them to make the opening larger and install a new winshield this summer. Monaco service department was very helpfull......Bruce

I had a similar experience with the gasket on my Pace Arrow one time and was lucky enough to find a glass shop open to take a look at it right away. What they told me was that the gasket is there more for cosmetic reasons than for anything else. They more or less super glued in back in place and I never had any further issues with it. Can't say whether yours is the same, but if it is, I would question whether it would be worth the expense of trading.

As suggested by Diplomat Dan and others, you first need to find an expert to look at your situation. If it were my coach, I would schedule an appointment with Alliance Coach down in Wildwood. They have a lot of experience with Monaco coaches and are well equipped to solve your problem.

You also need to pull the trigger on fixing the trailing arms. Alliance will be able to inspect & advise you about that issue also.

If you basically like the coach then you can fix the windshield problem, deal with the trailing arms and even install Source Manufacturing's ride enhancement kit for a small fraction of your cost to trade.

Have holiday rambler 08 windshield cracked on drivers side top to bottom. no apparent reason other than body flex. anyway glass company replaced with new windshield . 2 months later the rubber gasket is rolling itself out of the pass side and glass is coming out. here we go! called the glass company, they came and inspected. the owner of the company took responsibility and scheduled a 4man crew to come to the house and completely removed the glass and the gasket. they cleaned everything completely, re glued the gasket to the coach, installed the glass and glued that into the gasket. so far no issues. always time to do it over, but never time to do it right the first time! thank heaven for reputable
small companies locally owned. Gary

Sorry to hear about your problems. I have an 08 and have been pretty happy with it. Alliance Coach did take care of all my issues and most were covered by my after market warranty. They really do know their way around Monaco/HR coaches...

I called Monaco on Monday ,the tech said to contact Alliance . I called and am waiting for a return call back. I would like to see if my extended warranty would cover the windshield problem. And see if they have a FIX .
If not ...
