I have a 2003 Monaco exec 43 foot with dually rear tires and a tag axle.

I know that i need to replace at least 1 front tire (due to tread wear) and 1 outside dually due to 'chunk' of rubber missing (about 3-4 sq inches).

Leaning toward FMCA membership micheleans but open to ideas.

Current tire size is 295s

I plan on replacing at least 2 new ones and putting on front and moving backwards if practical.

Can I just replace inner or outer duallys at 1 time OR should I replace all 4 of them?

Have not yet had all tires checked for condition, cracking, etc?

Am aware of tires aging out.

Can I successful put the 315 size tires on the front? or do I gain anything by doing so - assuming that I am withing allowable weight limits.

Thanks for input on number of tires to recommend replacing as well on brands and or sizes?

I'd replace all 8 tires if it were me. Big chunk of $$ though, but worth it to me.

Mr D has the right idea. Are these the original tires on your 03? If so you certainly need to replace all of them . If that is not $$ feasible now I would strongly recommend replacing the fronts now. You just have to experience a front blow out once to know why I say that. Our RF tire blew and instantly ruined tire, wheel, brake and anti skid lines. Regarding duals it is always prudent to replace both tires on a side.

If DOT dates on the tires are less then 10 years old.
Replace both front tires and move the other good front to replace the rear with the chunk out.

Replace the rear dual ones in pairs when they age out.
I don't see any gain by going to bigger front unless the present ones are at their weight limit. Bigger just cost more $$$ for no gain that is useful.

Not true regarding bigger is more $$$. Through FMCA's Michelin program the 315's are about $45 cheaper than the 295's. Can't speak for other brands of tires but for Michelins they are cheaper unless the pricing has changed in the last month or two.

I saved close to $300 when I went to 315's all around and saved even more by purchasing the tires in Oregon were there is no sales tax. Savings paid for my trip to Oregon Dunes.

I cash flow is an issue replace axle by axle.. Since you need to replace a FRONT tire, replace both FRONT tires.. Then either your choice of the Tag axle (2) or drive axle (4) next month, and the remaining axle 1-2 months later.

IF it is a motor home (Assume it is) and you belong to FMCH.. Mitchlin has a deal with FMCA you get a rebate, the amount of the rebate is going down (or just went down) however.. but any rebate is better than a kick in the area where the rebate goes (Back pocket/wallet).

Wow, just checked the FMCA Michelin pricing table and tire prices have gone up. That being said, now the difference between the 315s vs the 295s is a savings of $66.50 for the XZA 2s. Still seems weird that larger tire is cheaper.

315's have pretty wide use in trucking/bus industry. 295's...RV. So part of pricing is volume. The 295 reflects pricing like RV, Marine, Aviation. ��

315 fronts=much improved ride over 295 on the S series chassis.

I understand that the 315 size tires are a little larger. Does anyone have experience or "gotch'as" for using them on either the steer axle or the rear duallys for a 2003 Monaco Exec chassis?

You want to avoid tires of different circumference (or wear) on the same dual wheel, as one tire wants to turn a little fast than the other, but cannot. This can lead to tire overheating and problems. People telling you to do it axle-by-axle are giving you good advice.

Michelin are not the only ones to consider, do a search here.

Plenty of others at better pricing with good performance.

U can get 3 for the price of 2 Michelin

Bigger tires can reduce MPG

you should get on a scale to check the weight first,
