Tires
I am in the process of trying to buy a 2004 Monaco Cayman 34'Class A from someone who knows very little about the vehicle. He has been making trips back and forth to Florida on what he tells me are the ORIGINAL TIRES!!!!!!!!!, and has been advised to change them which he hasn't Can you tell me the correct original size of the tires that came on this rig? He is not the original owner and I have been unable to do an inspection and get the date code from the sidewall.
Thanks

Do an inspection. That way you can verify dates on the tires. The size is on the loading placard located near the drivers seat. The placard also gives you needed weight ranges and tire pressures. If the tires are indeed original be sure the agreed on price includes reductions for tire replacement. I would replace the tires myself so I can get tires of my choosing. I put high quality tires on my coach because I may spend a few hundred more but reduce the risk of a blow out that may take out half of the coach where the tire ripped it up.
If you can't do an inspection of the motorhome, walk away. There are many others available in like or better condition.

If it's on the Ford F53 chassis I would suspect they're 245/70R19.5's as that's what my 2000 coach came with.

The original tires are Radial 255/70R/22.5.
These are 4 air bag entry level coaches with a "low torque" Cummins ISB and 5 speed transmission. I would not plan on towing anything. As long as you stay away from the mountains or high heat, the little ISB will be okay.
Check and see if it came with the optional diesel generator as the propane generator will not run very long before running out of fuel.

Aren't you concerned about what other maintenance items this guy has decided to skip?

If this guy knows nothing about the coach he doesn't know to take care of it. I have dropped 20,000 in my coach in the year I have owned it. "Deferred Maintenance" Meaning he didn't do any....walk away. Just my thoughts, yours may differ. LOL

It may have the defective trailing arms as well.

If it still has the original tires on it either he doesn't take care of his vehicles, loss interest in it, or ran out of money to keep it up.
Run away from that one!

Vito.a is correct on the tire size 255/70R/22.5. We bought our Cayman brand new and are on our 3rd set of tires. If the current owner can't tell much about the coach and it's maintenance and says its on original tires, like others have said, walk away. There were 3 major recalls on the Caymans and Knights on the R4R chassis for the front and rear control arms and the brakes. If those issues haven't been addressed you will be buying a potentially dangerous coach that will cost you several thousand dollars to repair correctly.

Trailing arm recall on the 2002 to 2009 caymen along with several more Monaco Coaches.
The ISB is strong enugh to tow a toad though.
