Hello, Does anyone have a list of all pick up trucks that can be safely toed with all four tires on the ground. Looking to trade in the CRV for a truck. Thanks in advance.

Hansville......Chevy full size and their small trucks that are 4x4's and Dodge full size and their Dakota 4x4's can be towed without any special equipment. Ford, Toyota and Nissan all need some type of disconnect to be towable. I tow a 2010 Nissan Frontier 4x4 auto with a Remco driveshaft disconnect.

MotorHome Magazine-Motor Home Reviews, Dinghy Towing, RV Travel & News and look for their dinghy towing guide. It's published every year and you should get a subscription just to get the paper copy of the guide.

Anything built by General Motors, even the de-funk Saturn. Just read the manuals.

Absolutely not so. GM trucks with full time AWD, including my 04 Silverado SS, and most Escalades and some avalaches, are not 4 down towable.

Saturn was pretty much the only front drive gm sedan that was 4 down towable with an auto trans.

Always read the manuals before laying out the cash.

The motorhome magazine guide is accurate and up to date, and easily accessible on the net. Great place to start.

Yes, there are always exceptions, and both of you are right that you need to read the manuals.

But as an initial screening pass, it's a pretty safe bet that all GM trucks with automatic push-button 4x4 transfer cases are towable. What you want to look for is the pushbutton transfer case control where you can press and hold the 2HI and 4LO buttons to put it in neutral. The giveaway is the small light and neutral label that points to those two buttons. It's tough to read in the small picture attached, but it's the white label between the buttons.

Unless it's a full time AWD system, odds are a GM 4x4 truck will be towable. But look in the manual under "Recreational Vehicle Towing" to make sure.

I tow my Avalanche often, it's a great toad. No special modifications needed, no complicated connection procedures, and no speed/distance restrictions. Most GM trucks are like that. The only downside is that they can be heavy, don't try it if your hitch is only rated for 3,500 or 5,000 pounds.

I didn't take a picture but my 09 Chev. silverado 4x4 has the round button for the transfer case and so was my 07 silverado 4x4. It is towable 4 down. A great todd to haul my harley ultra clasic M/C on the back of. Just wanted to say that the push button is not the only one towable.

Make sure your tow bar is up to the task, too. I traded my Jeep for a Suburban and made the mistake of trying to use the same tow bar. Hit brakes hard in an emergency stop and bent tow bar. Took less than 50 miles to ruin a front tire on the Suburban. Tire looked like the front end was severely out of alignment. Promptly bought new tire(s) and a 10,000 lb. tow bar.
