I took my toad and RV to a mechanic over a yera ago to have him wire my 01 Accord up to my coach. I had the correct wiring kit from blue ox. He said he didn't need the kit?? This summer headed to Oregon the cruise stopped working. I stopped in at Coburg and they said they found backfeed to the brake stop light switch but didn't have time to work on it. They said to go across the street to the cummings dealership. $300 dollars later they told me that nothing was wrong with the coach must be the Cat engine ECU problem. $488 later at the Cat place they said the ECM was fine must be a problem with the coach. On the way back to the park cruise worded fine. I figured out the back feed was coming from the toad. I have ordered 4 dioads to stop the back feed. My question is my coach has 1 taillight hot post, one for the r turn, one for the l turn. It has one seperate for the stop but the stop also makes the two turn signal posts hot. I am going from 5 wire system to 4 wire system for the toad. How exactly do I wire the toad and where should I put the dioads in to stop the backfeed. Appreciate any help you all can give me.

Best recommendation I can offer is call Blue Ox customer service and ask them about 4/5 wire system and how to wire it.

I installed my diodes under the back seat of a 2011 Malibu.

My 2004 Monaco Signature has a converter wired ahead of the 7 way plug on the MH that converts 5 wire to 4 wire system. Do a Google Search on 5 wire to 4 wire converters. There are pages of them, also demos on how to wire them..

You might want to look at adding a bulb to each of your tail lights. The Blue Ox installer I used for my 2011 CRV said adding the bulb and using wiring that is separate from the Toad prevents many of the problems you are having.

Have to agree with Dave. Wire the toad like a trailer,no cross over problems, easy to repair and trouble shot. Life gets simple.
