My friends got a Ford Escape to tow. Dealer installed base plate and did the wiring. Problem is that the tail lights do not work when hooked to the motor home. Turn signals work, brake lights work but no tail lights. Help please.

There are a variety of things to check. 1rst check the motorhome to see if the light wire is hot. Could be a blown fuse in the MH.

Plug the car to the MH and probe the light wire on both sides of the plug to make sure power is going from one side to the other.

Usually wire color for running lights is brown.

Next pull the car's rear light assembly to check for loose wires or bad connections.

Did the installer use diodes or did they insert socket with bulb?

Did the car/MH combo ever work?

Did the installer have the car and the MH when the work was performed?

The light wire is not hot. Cannot find the fuse for the wire.
Everything worked on the previous vehicle (kinda).
I don't believe they used diodes.
Thanks

Are you saying the light wire on the MH is not hot? Who makes the MH and the chassis. Maybe someone with a similar coach can chime in with fuse location.

I hope they used diodes or individual lights for the tow hookup. The Escape uses a computer to control all lights, this is different than many other vehicles. It is very expensive to replace if it gets feedback and fries.

But it sounds like the problem is in the MH. My guess is that it is a fuse and you may have fun finding it.
