I seem to remember a certain Drifter helping me look at them in Quartzite.
Took a look today and I will wait until the wife is around...just in case. :-)

Thanks Mike.

Topper fabric problem

On my coach, the "tears" at the leading edge were caused by the toppers being rubbed by the edge of the covers. I used a piece of sunbrella to increase the rub resistance of that area of the topper. It was several years ago, but I think that I secured it the topper with 3M 5200 adhesive in black. That adhesive cures to a rubbery consistency. I folded the sunbrella over that edge and clamped it so that it resulted in a thin reinforcement. That area is always exposed to the sun, and with the wind whipping it up and down against the metal cover it was susceptible to wear.

I used to tow a boat from California to Connecticut each year and quickly learned not to use any of the Sunbrella covers after the seat cover bags got wear holes after the first cross country trip. Sunbrella has very poor rub resistance.

Where do you put this pin? Is there a hole to line it up with? I went up and looked at mine and i see there is 6" of material rolled up inside. I would need to unroll to expose the grove to remove. That's where I would need to lock it open.

RWeigant,

look at the right side of the roll and you'll see a hole in the tube. When you unroll the tube you be able to see another hole the inner shaft. Just insert anything strong in it....

Here's a pic.

Ciao.

Mike thanks for the picture showing pin area. I lost most of pictures when I got the blue screen of death on my computer. I have worked on or about fourteen sets of toppers in the last few years and I lost a lot of pictures.
