My new Admiral supposedly has wiring provided for an auxiliary tow brake for the car. Beyond the sales literature about this feature, I can find nothing about this wiring. Which system? Where terminated? etc. Any info will be appreciated.

Can't help you with specifics, RoadRohrer. I recently learned my '06 was one of the last ones made before they started offering the tow-brake system at no extra cost.

In any case, I'd suggest giving Monaco Customer Service a call during the week. Have your coach serial number ready (the last 6 numbers of the entire long string are the important ones), and they can tell you a whole lot of stuff about your specific unit.

HTH,
Ron

I just went through this over the summer with my coach.

Basically my understanding is that all 06 and later Monacos are pre wired to accept the Unified Tow brake only. In other words, if you want to take advantage of the pre wiring - you have to use the Unified Tow Brake. The U.T.B is not tranferable between vehicles and is fairly invasive to you TOAD.

I decided not to use it but initally went with the Even Brake system from Roadmaster, but could not get it to work with my tow as we kept getting error messages - never got it out of the dealer lot in fact! United RV in Ft. Worth swapped it out for the Brake Buddy Vantage and we have been happy ever since.

Sounds like you figured-out a way around the Brake-system issue, wallypitts. Good deal. Saw you got your vehicle-info set-up too.

By the way, we're really glad to have you here as a new member and are looking forward to reading your posts about your RVing experiences and adventures. You'll find a great bunch of folks on this site who are very knowledgeable of RVing, the rigs we use, and the places we go in them.
Enjoy the forums and post often, and when you (or anyone else) want to be a offical member of the forum, and not just a new member of irv2, let us know.

Oh, I'm officially in the Garland area but, doggone-it, these vehicles are made to HIT THE ROAD, so that's what we're doing! Right now, we're making our way slowly up to Niagara Falls, and then to New England (fall-colors) and then back home by way of Florida for a few weeks..... ahhh, the rough life.

Glad you're here.
Ron

Sounds like a great trip. I've been spending quite a bit of time in Anchorage this month (flying not driving up there). In the last two and a half weeks the colors have been as impressive as anything I've seen in the Northeast. Running around in the rent car I've noticed lots of RV parks - most all them empty.
