Towing in "park"

Reminds me of the time my friend drove my MH towing my Isuzu with the emergency brake on.

I really felt bad for the guy right up to the point where he pulled into the shopping center. But once he became aware of the problem and did nothing to rectify it; oh well!

Like the man said, "You can't fix stupid"!

I towed my car in park one time for maybe 100 yards. That's when I found out two things:

#1 You can almost see air through the steel belts

#2 There is no trade in value for practically new square tires

Does this make the RV a "Dragster"?
The main reason for a properly adjusted rear RV camera when towing. Having the monitor turned on helps too.

I don't think my 2011 Monaco with the ISB 340HP 6.7L would move if my "toad" had its emergency brake on. deSanford

I can tell you that my Monaco with a 350 ISC 8.3 Can drag a Malibu when it is in park and one will not notice anything except the squeal of the tires wearing down.

Don't ask me how I know that. No damage to the transmission but relatively new tires worn to the threads and very black marks on the pavement.

Good object lesson, never get distracted when hooking up and taking off.

If it wasn't for the Mini Cooper pushing the Monaco up the hill we might never make it. deSanford

I towed my pickup with brakes on once and also found out 2 things:
1. 600hp cummins doesn't notice the drag
2. and per salesman, Sam's Club tire road hazard warranty doesn't cover "stupid"

Only once

We started pulling out with our gaser towing a Jeep. Knew right away.
With my DP and Dodge dakota wife sets it up. Never had the problem..
Funny video, why not check to see if it was in gear.

Been there done that. Towed Envoy through dirt campgroup without disconnecting drive shaft. No damage because a fellow camper flagged us down. Now when every we start moving DW watches car to make sure all wheels are turning and the tow bar arms are locked.

I can relate itdave.......towing with the "Blue" OX tow bar one of the arms didn't engage, and the DW and I were pulled over by the Calif. Highway Patrol. Their dispatch was inundated with calls from other motorists reporting a towed Mini Cooper zip zagging about to come loose behind a MH. I was thinking that maybe something was wrong with the MH's transmission as the coach was sometimes jerking. Now I make doubly sure BOTH arms are engaged. PS NO ticket for my misadventure. deSanford
