Towing my Jeep Wrangler

I have a 99 jeep wrangler with an automatic transmission. Can I put the transfer case in neutral and tow it with no harm to the tranny?

I would recommend reading the owner's manual first. There are always towing and recreational vehicle towing instructions in there. You can also check Remco's website for additional validation but your owner's manual should be first. Best of luck.

I have a 1995 Wrangler with automatic transmission

1) line up vehicle
2) put on emergency brake
3) put transfer case in neutral
4) place automatic transmission gear selector in park
5) hook up
6) release emergency brake

Good deal on the instructions as basically that's what our 2014 requires:
transfer case in neutral and tranny in park and key out... BUT, yours may be different...

Check your owners manual as, just like every RV, every auto is a snowflake and can have different tranny, driveline, instructions, etc...

Good instructions, I hook up before shifting (steps 3 and 4), that way no need for emergency/park brake. That way, I can't forget that park brake.

Never talk with anyone when hooking up... Focus... and DOUBLE check!

My 99 required the key to be left in and moved to a first position. That unlocks steering lock but no juice to ignition.

In most cases I have colored velcro reminder stripes attached the the steering wheel once parked I use them just for reminders before leaving port.

Such as:
Frig door secured / dinghy neutral & park brake / antenna down / cable tv unhooked and the likes. ?/ water & sewer.

99.9 % of the time I got it all on the walk around without the reminders..... except for that time those two bottles of Margarita mix went flying ou the Frige door and broke and went flying thu the coach while driving

Double check that the arms on the tow bar DID lock.

There is a a couple of ways that you can check this, one this backing up the and pulling the dinghy forward at idle with foot on the brake very gently or yes you can also move the coach.

I had one of the bars NOT lock and I was on 550 out of Durango Colorado ....you couldnt pick a worse place for this to happen in the lower 48 it could have been a disaster and one of the reasons that I never ever turn off my rear camera.

Happy Trails
