Trace RV 2012 replacement

Hello all,

I am having issues with my inverter tripping GFCI circuits and not powering a few of my devices. In the interest of upgrading to cleaner power, I have decided to upgrade to a Magnum Puresine.

My current coach has the RC7GS with Auto Gen Start capability and I'd like to retain that function.

My understanding is I will need the following:

Qty Item
1 Magnum Energy MS2012 2000 Watt 12V 100A Pure Sine Wave Inverter/Charger
1 Magnum Energy ME-AGS-N Automatic Generator Start Controller Network Version
1 Magnum Energy ME-ARC50 Advanced Remote Control Digital LCD
1 Magnum Energy ME-BMK Battery Monitor Kit with Shunt

Does anyone have experience installing this setup replacing the Trace Engineering RV2012 and could they offer any pointers?

Thanks in advance.

I just replaced my Trace with a Magnum with the Auto Gen Start and Remote. Since Camping World sells and installs the Magnum, I took it there in Strafford, MO. They did a great job; however, this Camping World (installer Jason) is very good and has done much work for me. Good luck.....

Steined,

Have you tried to trouble shoot your current problem, it may not be the inverter. I have the same setup as yours and have never had a GFIC trip. Seems like you may have a problem that could be fixable for a lot less money and effort.

First thing I would do check all the connections starting at the beginning of the circuit all the way to the inverter and main distribution panel to all the individual plugs. Check to make sure each of the connecting screws is tight.

A motorhome has a lot of vibration as it travels down the road and after reading posts I have started to check my main connections about every 2 years. In most cases this will be the first thing that is suggested when you try and start trouble shooting a problem.

If you do have a connection issue even if you change the inverter you could still have a problem.

I'll check that out! But I'd expect them to also trip on Gen or Shore power if that were the case. I think it is either tired GFCI breakers (on MSW) and/or a tired inverter. I've never heard circuit breakers make noise like the GFCI ones do when I'm on inverter.

You might try replacing the GFIC and see if the solves the problem.

Again, I've never had a GFIC trip and I have the same inverter system you have.
