Just finished diagnosing my Iota ITS -50R transfer switch as being DOA. Even tried flipping the delay micro-switch as advised elsewhere in the forum to no avail. It turns out that IOTA doesn't even make this less than reliable component any more. This suits me fine as I have had more than my share of experience with these units (none very good). The only problem is that my switch is mounted on the back surface of the front run compartment and faces the front of the MH. All the wiring is installed through the left side of the transfer switch (3 ports used) and not much if any slack. The Monaco RV recommended replacement is a TRC Surge Guard 50A switch. I can't tell by the picture if there are knock outs on the left side (I suspect there aren't any). Has anyone ever replaced an Iota with side ports with another switch? I could use some input.

Contact a supplier of the TRC Surge Guard and maybe they can answer your question about the side ports. Other wise find out what their return policy is. Just my .02 cents worth.

Search the net. I am sure that I saw one that looked similar earlier this year. Can't remember who made it but a little digging around may show you a picture that may be helpful. You might also find a dealer that still has one on the shelf. Wish I had bookmarked the site as I have the same switch and from what I read I will probably need one soon also.
Good luck and safe travels!

Transfer switches should be orientation ignorant, that means if there are no knock outs on the left side, but there are on the right side... Mount it upside down.

That is certainly something I hadn't thought of. As long as the box fits in the area that is available it might work out....will continue to research....Thanks to all so far....

The ESCO switch is hard to beat, a little pricy but good folks to deal with give them a call and see what they say . This is what we have on our coach.

ESCO: ES50M-65N Automatic Transfer Switch - Simple Design, Lower Cost
