Transmission problem

Have an 07 Knight with 3000 ally trans. Went to start it today and no start. Looks like it is a problem with the key pad for the transmission. It is completely dead no read out. Any one have any ideas where to start looking? All the gauges on the dash work. Are there any fuses that run the shift pad if so where?

The Transmission Control Module, is powered and fused from the chassis batteries & the ignition. There are a number of posts on the wiring at the battery being corroded and not powering the TCM or the shift pad, and bad solder joints shutting things down . I'll get the name of the latest post and direct you to it.

Edit: the post is in

make sure when testing you do not ground the chassis to the TCM case

doing so well kill the TCM

From what I read you have lost power to pad. Here is the allison link in case you don't have it handy.

Ok looks like I lucked out on this one. I must have caused this problem myself. Last week while under the rig changing the oil I seen that the neg post on the starter was getting corroded so I took it off and cleaned it up it must have did something to the trans brains. I just now went and turned the main chassis power off and turned it back on and the key pad works now. I know that doesn't make sense but that is the only thing that I did besides change the oil.

Keep track of the info from the posts , unfortunately this may only be a temporary fix.
Double check the connection on the starter and check all wiring in the area for possible disturbance.

Well tomorrow Iam going to repeat taking off the ground wire on the starter and see if it does the same thing, that way ill know if that is what caused the problem. I didn't diconect the power when I did it so Iam thinking that some way it turned off the comp. for the shift pad. This elec stuff can get real weird sometimes.

Well diconected the ground on starter again and the pad is still working so I guess that isn't what caused the problem. It has worked great since I turned the main chassis batteries off and then back on . did find a wiring plug that wasn't plugged up tight next to the tcm. From what I read on the forums here there are two wires coming off the chassis batt that feed the trans comp. ill trace them down tomorrow.
