traveling into cold weather

I am traveling to Iowa for grandkids spring break this weekend, and since we are from Florida this is uncharted travel for us. Temps will be coldest on Sunday with lows predicted to be 19. My diplomat doesn't have heated water bay.I know to put light inside of it or small space heater to prevent plumbing from freezing. My question is will holding tanks be okay in that temp?

If your tanks are enclosed you should be alright. If not you can always pour some RV Antifreeze down the drains and toilet to help keep the contents from freezing solid. I also have used water softner salt, but you want to get it out as soon as possible so as not to dry out the rubber seals on your drain valves. Hope this helps. Randy

I have an older unit but our mh has a some heat in the back bay where all the tanks are near. My experience while living in the mh (even in 20 degree temps) is that there is enough heat from our aqua hot and as you add water to the black and grey tanks from a warm source -- the result is they don't freeze. Now if you stop using your unit while on this trip and shut off your aqua hot -- that's a whole different deal.
I have to say I can't speak to temps much below 20. Still if your unit has a bay heater like mine, that has a thermostat which I keep set for 40 degrees seems like you should be ok.
Hope I've helped.
Loren

Thanks , Also the campground we are staying in has water turned off due to winter. So we will have fresh water in our tank. what is your thoughts on this tank?

In Iowa this time of year you shouldn't have much of a problem. Try to park with the wet bay on the south. Out of the north wind and facing the sun should help a lot. Consider a remote read thermometer for that compartment.
