We have an 09 Monarch with a remote control for furnace, a/c, blower, & heat pump. We can get everything to work except the furnace. There are actually two remotes, one in living area and one in bedroom. The Monaco manual only tells you how to use a furnace with a wallmounted thermostat. We didn't get any literature on how to use with remote control so we have tried pointing it at the a/c unit and at the furnace with no results. The LP gas is on because the stove works. What are we doing wrong?? I am glad that we have the heatpumps or we would be freezing.

If you have the carrier system, this may help.

Missing Item 1 is On/Off Button operation
Dennis
Edit: Image does not appear to work - following is text:
2. MODE SELECTOR BUTTON: Press this button to select the desired
mode. In COOL mode the unit will
run at the normal cooling mode.
In DRY mode the microcomputer of the unit controls the fan motor
to automatically cycle on and off
according to room temperature for efficient moisture removal. In FAN mode only the fan will operate at the
selected fan speed and circulate the room air. In FURNACE mode the unit will run at the normal furnace mode. In HEAT mode (optional) the unit will run at the normal heat pump mode. 3. FAN SPEED SELECTOR
BUTTON: Press this button to select
HIGH, LOW, or AUTO. In AUTO
mode fan speed is controlled by the microcomputer of the unit. 4. ON TIMER BUTTON: Press the
ON TIMER button to select the
desired time, in hours, for the unit to automatically turn on. 5. OFF TIMER BUTTON: Press the
OFF TIMER button to select the
desired time, in hours, for the unit to automatically turn off. 6. TEMPERATURE SELECTOR
BUTTONS: Set the desired room
temperature for unit to maintain. In
COOL mode, if the room temperature
is higher than the setting, the
compressor will automatically turn on to provide a cooling effect. If the room temperature is lower
than the setting, the compressor
will automatically turn off to stop cooling operation. However, the fan will continue to circulate air even if the compressor is turned off. In
HEAT mode (optional), if the room temperature is lower than the setting,
the compressor will automatically turn on to provide heat. If the room temperature is lower than the setting,
the compressor will automatically turn off to stop heating operation. However, the fan will continue to
circulate air even if the compressor is turned off.

Thanks, I made a paper copy but it still doesn't tell you what to do if furnace does not operate. It does not tell you if the hand held remote has to be pointed at the ac unit for all control functions? It does not tell you if you can start furnace from the remote in bedroonm using that ac unit.

Roger---I have a similar unit, 09 H/R Admiral 30ft, but with just one remote control. Yes the remote has to be pointed at the ac unit for all control functions. On mine I hear a beep to indicate they are talking to each other. The tempature needs to be set high enough to come on, and keep in mind that the temp sensure is in the ac unit not the remote. Also the timer needs to be off.

Thanks, I may have the timer on. Didn't get a manual. I guess they think that you can get all info on computer.

I have the Carrier units that are controlled by the remotes.
I found-
To start the furnace - point remote at ((( Front ))) unit only
Furnace mode , temp 72 deg
you should receive a beep in response - then wait approx 1 min
If the furnace did'nt start you may need to hit the reset switch in the outside compartment - remove cover - find the circuit board and a switch reset.
I spent time on the bedroom unit at found out it has no furnace on - off control.
oh is Gas working ok say on the stove??
I hope this will help. GG

I have the same units. One thing that doesn't appear to be documented is that if operating in "Heat" (heat pump) mode, should the ouside air temperature drop below efficient heat pump levels, the unit will automatically change to furnace operation.
Of course this does not change the remote mode selected, but you will stay warm. I have found it to be more efficient to make mode and/or temperature changes with the unit not aimed at the roof mounted unit, turn the remote Off, aim the remote then turn it on. As mentioned above, the unit should beep, confirming the newly programmed instructions have been accepted.

We found out a few weekend's ago that the stove might light but there may not be enough pressure to light the furnace.

Lynnvt,
Was your gas pressure low because you were almost out of LP gas or something else? Our unit shows that we have near full LP Tank.

The pressure was low because the tank was almost empty. Not empty enough for the stove not to light.

I will assume you have the same Carrier V system I have.. two words of caution on that hunk of ... something (I'll let you decide what)
Though it's very nice to have the remote and it greatly simplifies the wireing of the rig..
1: Those remotes eat batteries like they were M&M's Buy spares,, Buy 'em by the dozen or more.
2: On my coach in furnace mode (Which on mine only uses the front unit, the rear unit is not connected to the furnace) the thing will "False" sense if it's cold out and call for heat, even though it's set on 70 and the MH is over 80 inside.
I found that sometimes running the non-controlling unit in fan only mode will tame it, (They share ducts) but an even better control is to hang a clip on fan somewhere (I hung it on some window trim) blowing gently upon the sensor (the little yellow nib that protuded down through the panel) this blows room temp air over the sensor and now if I set it say on 68.. shuts off at 70, like it should.

Is there also a temperature sensor in the duct that causes the furnace to come on because the rear ac fan running keeps it cool? If the remote is the room sensor maybe it could be moved to a better location? Just thinking, we don't know if we will have such a problem.
