Joe,

By combo I assume you mean with a built in DVD player. That will severely limit your choices but there are a few out there. I would suggest getting the newer LED type because they are thinner and weigh less. If you use an articulating arm you will appreciate the thinner unit when pushed back to the wall or cabinet. We took out the old CRT TV in the bedroom and cut the cabinet to accept a newer 16x9 aspect size. Purchased some cherry wood to trim it back in. We installed the Vizio brand from Sam's Club and it has been great. It does not have the built in DVD player and would not work if it did because the unit is almost flush with the cabinet. You would need to go with the articulating arm so you can access the side of the TV to insert the DVD.

This is a hot subject and I am sure you will receive many suggestions.

Good luck,

Bob

Hi Bob,
Combo, yes I figured it would be easier to shut the dvd off with the remote from bed (or just set the sleep timer) rather than getting up an going to front overhead compartments to turn off the dvd..
I'm also thinking I could mount an articulating arm some how inside the old tv cabinet an pull it out to load dvd an maybe still have some storage in the cabinet.
I'll look into the vizio led thanks much joe

Magnavox has a 32" with DVD on the side available at Sams. We've installed one in front and bedroom using neither DVD player. The Magnavox just happened to be the narrowest tv. The living room tv uses the "primary" DVD and for $49. the bedroom TV has it's own sitting on a shelf nearby....... 27 lbs. each

You've already made the most important decision..... keep mama happy!

I've replaced all 3 set in our coach... two LCD and one LCD/LED which we installed in our outdoor entertainment center. Bob gave some good advice and I would go with an LCD/LED set if you can find a combo unit you like... but it could be tough since these new sets aren't much thicker than a DVD themselves. I wouldn't even consider a plasma set in a coach. They don't travel well.

Good luck

Rick

The campfires come with the number of posts. You get a campfire for each milestone.

To answer to combo or not to combo............I have a DVD/tv combo and you guessed it, the DVD portion is not operative, now I have to get an external DVD player anyway......not cost effective to repair.

We have a Sharp 23" combo with side loading DVD in the bedroom. Its mounted on an articulating arm and fits just perfectly flat against the wall in the corner. I secure it with a loop of stick-to-itself velcro tape during travel.

Got it at Overstock.com for something like $129. Works beautifully except the volume could be louder.

We replaced both our old Sony Crt's with Vizio LED's. Put a 26 in the bedroom and a 32 in the overhead. Just bought the 32 on this trip and have it mounted but will cut back the cabinet once we get home and get rid of the shoulder and nogan buster. YEHHH LOL. The LED;s are so light and use very little energy so they are a natural fit for RV's.
