Has anyone done a TV Mod in the bedroom? I did the front mod in our 2004 Dip about two months ago I think it turned out really well and will post some pics soon. I have seen some bedroom mods but I dont think I have seen one like I want. I have a 19" in the bedroom but want a 32" so I thought I would get a ceiling mount and attach it to the cabinets above the dresser at the end of the bed, this raises it up enough to be comfortable to veiw it laying down. My question is do you think the cabinets will support the weight, the tv weighs about 17 lbs and the ceiling mount about 20lbs. Would like some input and any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Oh by the way the cabinet that the smaller tv is in is too small to house a 32" tv, I plan on having some doors made to match the others and use for storage. Thanks and I just love this forum.

Bonanza.....On my model, there was a 19" TV mounted into a cabinet against the rear wall. In the closed position, you would see the front of the TV as you walk from the front of the coach to the rear. The TV opened out with the swing of the door it was mounted in and swung toward the bed. You had to view it at a 45 degree angle. I wanted to remove it and open up the huge cabinet it sat in. I replaced it with a 26" flat panel with a built in DVD player.

I mention all of this because I had Monaco build the new cabinet doors for me. If you give them your coach number, interior wood, they'll custom make cabinets. They're a little pricey, but not much more than hunting someone down to make it and match it.

Here is the original installation:

Here are the new doors:

Thanks Diplomat Don for the info your mod is great, if I hand enough room to put a 32" in my cabinet I would do it like yours. I have cabinets across the where the window is so I thought I would try to mount a 32" under the cabinets with a ceiling mount, have thought about ordering the mount but wanted to hear what people on the forum had to say. I guess I could order the mount and see if I think it will work, if not I can send it back. My main concern was the cabinets holding the weight but no more than the tv and mount weigh it seems to me that it might work. If you have any more suggestions please let me know. Thanks

David.....The only other thing I would throw out is adding a DVD player. I went with HDTV in the front with an HD Winegard antenna. I tossed the switchbox and wired everything up front direct to the TV, including the Home Theater System. This left me with the issue of getting the front DVD player to work in the bedroom without using a switchbox (I couldn't). I used the one cable from the front to connect to a second output on the DirecTV box (in the front) and power the rear TV with digital signal only, no HD. I would have had to use a second Sat box to run HD in the bedroom. I went with a built in DVD player or a separate DVD player would work.

Don, thanks for the insight. I think I will have my tv man look at the whole system and see what I will have to do to hook up to dish. I have a TracVision 2 satellite system that has never been used and they said they would look at it and see what I will need to do. I ordered the ceiling mount yesterday, will look at it and figure out if it will work. Don also how long ago was it that you had Momaco make your cabinet doors? My tv is on a slight angle I guess they would know what I needed. I will post some before and after pics of both mods when finished if I can figure out how to load the pics. Don thanks for all your help.

They made the doors for me last year after they started operating again.

Well guys I just received my ceiling mount the other day and found it will not work. It doesnt give enough room towards the back of the cabinets to allow the tv to be recessed enough so it doesnt stick out into the walk area. Back to the drawing board. I guess I will have to get a smaller tv or get someone to build me cabinet where the top cabinets are. Any way just thought I would let you know. Thanks for all your help. Have a great day.

Are your pictures stored on your computer or on a photo storage site such as Photobucket?
