Just got back from a 3000 mile trip. On an extremely rough section of I40 the driver side power shade came crashing down. The wife was driving and scared the you know what out of her. I found a few pieces of plastic so I know the bracket must be broken. Any suggestions for a fix besides a new one?

Also, the power foot rest on the passenger seat quit working. I can hear it clicking but it won't move. Any suggestions for fixing that would be appreciated.

Other than that it was a wonderful trip. My VMSpc says I got 8.9 mpg, which may or may not be accurate but is in line with what I found when I figured it manually.

We did get to see some beautiful sights in Glenwood Springs, Co., Arches NP, Salt Lake City, Zion NP, and the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon inspired us enough that we hope to be able to get a rim to rim hiking permit for October of next year, on the easiest trail, of course.

Jim,
I had both sides break on my 2005 Endeavor.I think they were made by Carefree. After checking I found I had to replace the whole motor end as the flimsy plastic bracket was not available without buying the whole motor end. The cost was pretty steep. I dreamed up a fix consisting of taking a flat metal bar about an inch wide and long enough to go across the motor and have about an inch overhang on each side of the motor. I drilled a hole on each end of the bar in the center of the one inch overhang. I then took long sheet metal screws and used them to hold the bar so it would support the motor. The screws were screwed in the ceiling above the motor. I would send you a photo but the Endeavor is long gone.

Our footrest comes disconnected once in awhile. The rods that push it out and pull it in come disconnected from the pins they attach to. I've always managed to hook them back up, but it's really difficult. I'm wondering whether it needs cotter keys and washers, or some other method, to keep them from falling off. In the meantime we avoid future problems by stopping the step a little early on both extend and retract. That works.
