One runs thru the inverter, is the other a direct plug to the breaker box maybe ?

If both are really there and live, yes, that's how it's often done.

Problem is the fridge sucks batteries dry very fast but the ice maker loves 120vac so when I go to travel here is what i do.

First I kill the AC to the fridge Wait for it to switch to Gas, Turn off auto sense (Thus locking it on gas) and restore AC this time on the inverter's side of the street.

Works for me.. So long as I remember to switch back.

Usually one of for the refrigerator and the other is for the ice maker if it has one.

I have UPGRADED to a Samsung residential 197, and have it plugged into the inverter, all my other plugs run thru the inverter, and was thinking it would be nice to maybe have at least one that does not .

I have two outlets feeding my refer. The ice maker is on the inverter circuit and the refer is not so it automatically switches if I have it set for auto. Glad you refreshed my memory on this. I rarely use the refer ice maker because it seems to give me more problems than it is worth and I carry a nice portable one that works very well on the inverter. Problem is it does not store ice.

Ken,

The original intent was for the ice maker to plug into the outlet that is powered from the inverter and the frig plugged into the outlet that goes to the private circuit breaker in the AC distribution panel. If you look at the breakers in the panel you should see one that is labeled frig. We converted our coach over to a Samsung RF197 and run it off the inverter 24/7. The inverter has an internal transfer switch that will automatically power any devices connected to it from shore power or the generator when those power sources are available. During periods when both those power sources are absent the frig will operate off the inverter. The only caveat here is that many other outlets are on the same circuit as the frig when it is powered from the inverter. In our case (yours may be different) the inverter has two 20 amp breakers and the frig is on one of those. The microwave has the other breaker to itself. I have plans to put the frig on the same breaker as the microwave and put the microwave on the private frig breaker in the distribution panel. I have not done it yet. That will make it easier to manage the power drawn through the inverter. For now we are just careful what loads we connect to the outlets on the same circuit as the frig. No problems yet. We did install two 20 amp outlets, one in the bath and one in the hall, that are wired directly to a plug in the service bay. We plug that into the 20 amp circuit on the pedestal and use those outlets for hair dryers and electric heaters.

Ken:

As Nodine stated, one of my circuits on the inverter WAS for the microwave, the other for the outlets. When I installed the Smasung, I moved the inverted microwave circuit to the fridge and put the microwave on the breaker in the panel that used to power the fridge. I now have only the fridge on one of the inverter circuits. I now can't run the micorwave off of the inverter, but I never did that anyway.

Thanks , That answered my questions. I need more non-inverter plugs so I dont overload the breaker in the inverter.

Bob.......Your separate circuit for the heater and blow dryer is a great idea when using the electric heater in the coach. I can already picture where I'll run the wiring under the kitchen sink. Having that heater on a separate circuit in a 30 amp campsite will be helpful.

Don,

Glad I can give an already very creative guy like yourself a good ideal. I purchased a high quality extension cord, I think at Home Depot, and got more than I expected. I recently noticed that the cord was still flexible even when outside overnight at around 25 degrees. I expected it to be stiff but it was not. I ran standard romex wire across the top of the black and gray tanks to the other side of the coach. From there I was able to thread it up into the bath room through an existing opening. I took out the bottom of the cabinet under the sink and installed a duplex outlet there and another outlet in the hall. At the other end of the romex in the service bay I installed a male twist lock plug. I cut off the female plug on the extension cord and installed a female twist lock to mate with the male twist lock. When we get to the campground I just plug it into the 20 amp outlet on the pedestal or use an adapter and plug it into the 30 amp if I have the coach plugged into the 50 amp outlet.

Now all I need to do is get off my duff and rewire the frig inverter outlet to the one the microwave is on and move the microwave to the non inverter circuit the frig use to be on. We always start the generator to run the microwave if we are not on shore power.

Great Minds must think alike. I had previously bought a high quality length of power cord from Home Depot that I use for my everyday connection at home to a 20 amp circuit. I decided another length of it used with a twist lock would prevent any electrical/electricution issues with the plug.

I just remodeled my stepwell with brush nickel plates yesterday and got my new HDDVR in the mail today. Tomorrow is TV upgrade and then Quartzsite.....will do the electrical project when we return.
