Update on Villa Captain Chair footrest problem

It's been a while since anyone posted about repairing the footrest on a Villa seat in a Monaco product. Our co-pilot seat started acting up, was lifting good on one side and erratic and binding up on the other. I unbolted the seat and flipped it over for a look. There is a motor with flexible cable that drives two worm gear assemblies. The one on the curb side was obviously struggling and was trying to climb out of its housing.

I contacted Villa and was met with a very helpful fellow named Mike who it turns out is the sales manager.

I was quoted $45 plus shipping for the replacement worm drive and it arrived in about a week. The only downside was they charged me $28 shipping for a 2 pound UPS ground package. When I called back to question, Mike went from helpful to a bit belligerent and lectured me on how it costs them $70 to do a transaction and they really would rather not even mess with parts. This was a real surprise since he had been so helpful prior. I told him to do what he thought was right on the shipping, and all he said was "let me know if the part worked". Oh well, I guess even at $73, it is worth the fix. I'm attaching a picture showing the parts available. Kudos to Villa (despite the freight gouging) for making these parts available at a reasonable price for a 16 year old coach! Hope this helps someone.

'someone' thought it was like our recliners at home that you just push down and before i could say stop, the worm gear was bent a bit...

so while it still works, now it wobbles going up and down the dog has a FIT and almost will attack it
probably can be straightened out if I wanted, but I still like the opportunity to make THAT FACE whenever it's used !
