Using the Sanicon, I had a residual "sewage smell" in the utilities compartment even after carefully rinsing the system after use. For a number of reasons, I now only use the Sanicon system on occasion and normaly dump tanks using the standard three inch hose. Since making this change and letting the Sanicon system inlet hose dry, all ugly smells have gone away. The Sanicon is great if you need to pump sewage over a long distance (like to a sewer clean out at home). However, for routine dumping, I think the "old fashioned" way of doing it is far superior.
Hi.. I am having the same problem... Though it just started Thanksgiving week..

Though I do believe it may be because it was NOT completely sanitized. ?

Has your problem gone away.. ?

It`s the 3" hose that connects to the pump that`s causing the problem -- SaniCon uses a cheap hose, & if you will replace it with a better hose, the smell will go away -- That`s what I, & some others on this forum have done -- Bill Willard

Bill... ummmm.. we are talking about the hose that goes directly to the sewer hook-up? This is he first time we have had the ODOR in 2 months..

It feels so sturdy, though the hose itself is not that big around... We must have flushed it approx 10 times that day... We used the EQUALIZE system, info that came with the system.. I will explore your suggestion...

THANK YOU..

The hose from the SaniCon is ok, Bill is talking about the hose from the gate valves to the SaniCon. That hose is a little permeable and the gases in the sewer drifts through causing the odor. Replace it with a much better hose such as the triple layer Valterra hose available at CW or most RV supply stores. A bit of a challenge to fit on the plastic ends but if you do a search on this board there are several hints on how to accomplish.

I'll throw my vote in for changing the hose. Once I changed mine out it eliminated the smell. I bought a dark brown hose (forgot the brand) from Camping World. When you remove the old hose from the pump, they use a couple of rubber band type seals around the pump. These are a pain to put the new hose over, but you need to reuse them.

PJGMG...
You have just had three of our best members answer your question with the same response ...and I am one more who will throw in the same answer!
You can read more info on an old thread located here.... but the best answer is to replace the 3" hose going to the "macerator" . Some folks bought a Super Heavy Duty Hose from Camping World and shared it with another member. The hose replacement will solve the problem..errr- I mean the smell!!!

Bill, Mark, Don, MonacoMomma, et al' ....

Thank you for this great Holiday gift... You have come to the aid of a Newbie. I know what I'm buying for our RV for the Holidays... A 3" hose will "eliminate" the odor.

BTW: I do have a little history with Diplomat Don, he has often come to my aid with his expertise and responded to my questions on this forum and the "Other" one.. RV.Something...(PJG061073).

Again..Thank you all.

Funny thing. My Simba came with the sanicon system already installed. After a few times using it, I unhooked it. I set it up as a portable quick connect system to use as a back up. I find the three inch hose to be so much faster and easier to clean up after use. I do use the sanicon to pump over to my septic tank at home. To me the three inch is better and a sanicon for pumping is a great tool to have along also.

"To each their own," I guess....I would never go back to the 3 incher unless my sani-con system just broke down... It's just a cleaner system to use.

Make sure it is the "HeavyDuty/SuperDuty". The normal $10.00 hose will not work well with the sanicon. If you watch the 3" hose while turning on and off the macerator pump, you will see that it moves back and forth quite a bit, causing wear to occur.

I agree, use a good quality hose. This is our setup. Two years of full time usage with no problems and no more stinky slinky cleaning.

Your config is a bit different than ours.. The LARGE hose is closer to the front and it also impedes me from putting the hose with the nozzle through the HOLE to the sewer.. As matter of fact last time I took off the LARGE hose and put the Skinny one through the opening, I broke the teeth on the large one when I tried to put it back.. So I just run it straight thru to the sewer..

Not sure that is the most efficient way to go.. I have browsed the internet for a replacement Large hose .. see post..

Thanks for taking the time to send the pic and info..

Still smelly in NC...
