What works best for people that are full timers or out for awhile and need to clean several times?

Our RV came from the factory with a central vacuum system already installed. Works really well for us and it only takes up little space in the cargo area.

Something like this would work.

I believe if you do a search here or on other forums the majority say don't spend money on a central system. I don't like having to drag the long hose around. I honestly don't think it does a better job than the 12 amp stick vac I had. Of course it will make a difference though if you don't have a lot of carpet. I recently bought a Dustbuster upright for $45 at Walmart with a folding handle so it doesn't take up any more floor space/room in the closet than the hose and attachments of the central vac. It has attachments (the crevice tool is about 2 ft long) and IMHO does a better job than the central system. I am very happy with it. It is lightweight and has a handle on the body so easy to carry if needed like taking in and out of closet. I have been full time for almost 10 years and this is the best one I have used. I vac often, not every day anymore but several times a week.

It looks like this one although my model number is slightly different.

We use this one Dyson DC24 All Floors Vacuum Cleaner | Dyson.com. We have a long haired dog that sheds and this is working for us. We tried 3 others without much success. It is pricey, but is compact and doesn't put the dust back in the air.

We also have the central vacuum, but don't use it that much because of the long hose. I did add a pan sweep that we do use sometimes, but most of th time we use our old 8 lb. Oreck XL. Works great.

We full time and use the new Hoover Linx cordless vacuum. It's a small upright with a rechargable lithium-ion battery. It's bagless and looks like a small Dyson. Very quiet and powerful. It stows easily in our closet.

Dirt Devil here as well, works great, light weight and stores under the bed with ease. Drive safe down the yellow brick road.

Riccar upright or a Shark Navigator bagless kept in the rear closet. Both are full size vacs small compact economy size ones just don't the job a full size one does. Also we keep a Bissel steam vac in the same closet its smaller than the big ones it puts out very little water every month the rug gets shampooed. After 8 years with 2 dogs the carpets look like new and no odors.

many good suggestions here a few things to know
hoover and dirtdevel are the same chinese co.
dyson is very costly to repair
riccar is a copy of pansonic but maybe a little better
shark replacement parts are almost nonexistant
an inexpensive lite weight is your best choice
most units are more costly to repair than replace
storage is a prime consideration
we keep a 1gallon shop vac(wet n dry) is always a good choice in an rv
and a 35.00 eureka battery powered "brush up"
total investment $55.00
50 years in the floor care industry make me an expert in my own mind!!!!!!!!!

After trying a variety of different types of powered and non-powered cleaners, I settled on a small 8 amp 3 gallon "All-Around" shop vac with attachments. We use it throughout the coach and car, outside in the storage bays, etc. It is an all-around very useful tool. It stores in its own box and placed under the bed when not needed. The tools are stored in a tool pouch hung in the closet.

We also use the small "Swiffer" with both wet and dry disposable cloths.

Our coach has mostly light oak wood laminate flooring from the entry door to the bedroom. The only carpet is in the bedroom and under the roadside sofa & dinette table.

We also own an old fashion broom with an attached dustpan. The Swiffer and broom hang in a small useless area between the shower and hallway wall out of the way until needed.

Mine is a Eureka Boss w/ folding handle. But more importantly, I'm able to "store" it in a position of ready access, i.e., it's not in a closet taking up valuable space there and/or rattling around therein.

On my Dip, just in front of the washer/dryer is a niche formed by the bureau drawers & shelf....just large enough for this vac. I hold it in place with a Velcro strap which is attached to the wall. The vac is nearly completely hidden...which is to say that the wife doesn't object to it being there!!
