I trashed the VCR when I upgraded the TV's to LCD with digital tuners. Then I could add a Up Converting DVD Player plugged into the HDMI input on the TV. Nothing is transmitting on channel 3 or 4 now. I put a DVD player in the bedroom as well.
You can get them for as little as $40.00
Philips DVP3982 1080p Upconversion Progressive Scan DVD Player w/HDMI (Black) Philips DVP3982/37 DVP3982
I spent a little more $70.00 for a Samsung because the TV's were Samsung.
Amazon.com: Samsung DVD-1080P9 1080p Upconverting DVD Player: Electronics

Flying Butch.....My coach camewith the RCA entertainment system with the built in speakers and subwoofer in a cabinet. I went to best buy and was able to find a Sony entertainment system that was an open box. The speakers were a little damaged, but I didn't need them. I installed the new system and did the same thing Theberrys did and wired everything directly to the TV. In the near future I will change my sat dome out for an auto HD sat, change out the rear TV to an HD and eliminate the Winegard junction box completely.

Flying Butch - not sure what coach and system you have but you might see if your TV sound will go to the home entertainment system by switching to external speakers on the TV menu and then setting the home entertainment input to Aux 1. On our coach the cable or antenna input goes directly to the TV and then the TV feeds audio out to the home entertainment systems through its "audio out" connections. Don't know if this works for you but you might check. Our TV is a Sharp Aquos and the home entertainment system is an RCA RDT258RV and that is how it works for us.

YOu want a VCR, See me, I have a couple gathering dust

A Digital Video Recorder is todays' "VCR" the only difference is instead of a tape that gets all tangeled and eaten it uses DVD-RW (OR DVD+RW) and/or a hard disk I have 3 in the motor home

One is a 250 hour Hard Disk recorder,, One is 40 hours, and the remaining is a DVD-RW machine (DVD-R or DVD-RW) which currenlty holds sixty hours (10 six hour DVD-RW's)

We wdould never use the vcr but everything seems to be running through it and I am clueless how to hook that stuff up?? I don't see how my set up will allow the in cable from the "cable imput from outside cable" to go directly to the TV. It isn;t long enough for that. When I put the VCR on channel 4 the sound will come through all the speakers but I can not then change the channels as the sound from channel 4 keeps coming out the speakers but the TV built in speakers will have the correct sound?? I have tried the setting of external speakers with remote but no good. I am going to try another VCR and see if any difference. Thanks everyone for taking time to help a entertainment hook up dummy!!!
